Why have apple changed the function on the lock switch. The switch use to lock the screen from auto rotating which I found really handy but now it's become a mute switch what's the point I want it changed back NOW.  I was waiting before I would download the new iOS on my iPad just make sure all it was the right choice and all bug where fixed.  I am starting to think I wish I kept the old system.

The auto rotation switch is now a soft switch. go to the task bar by double pressing the home button. Swipe the task bar to the right. Now the control panel displays, the auto rotation button is on the left.

Aaa cheers didn't know you could swipe it that way. Also got brightness adjustment and iPod umm I might get use to the change now.

But  seen as they have the iPod player der they should of put the mute with the iPod and kept the lock switch the lock switch to be honest makes more sence seen as  you hace the play pause change song and change volume you might as well have mute with it bit random having a lock soft button next to a music player.

Why did you think they changed it?

The old way obviously made too much sense, so it couldn't be left alone.

Performance is very snappy on the iPad with 4.2.

I believe performance is less with the new iOS 4.2. I I have the system app which I had before and still av now and it tells me I am using more memory all the time now then when I had the old system on. Also I'm sure it takes longer to start up.

Just a question strange really. The iPad came up on my laptop and I was able to acces it like a external hard drive but the funny thing was it said it was 160gb hard drive. I could see all my photos so I knew I was on the iPad but I'm sure when I bought my iPad it was a 64gb  when I look on the IPad it's self it says  59gb which is what it should say you never get the full 64gb. Just wondering if any one else had this come up. I'll see next time I plug it into my laptop to see if it does it again.

Heeehee yea. I hate it when I like the way something is and then they change it and make it worse. I think this alteration is redicilous and should be changed back no point what so ever to change the lock switch.  It's like putting the a mute bottom on your tv but not on the remote so you have to get up to mute the tv.  You use the player on the iPad at the bottom but you have to move your hand up to mute but volume and everything else for the player is together at the bottom and then a random screen lock next to it which has nothing to do with the music player.

With mine the mute button only works with the external speaker if your using head phones the mute button does not work. I am really disappointed with this new change it's rubbish.    Wa is cool though how it remembers volume. I have two set of head phone if I put the volume in max for one and min on the other it remembers but also for the external speaker so it remembers 3 different volume settings not just 2.  One of my set of head phone has only 2rings on the end and the other has 3 for track next song pause etc. So it remembers volumes for different types.

Also I hate the fact it has not got a SD card slot I thought it wouldn't matter but it's annoying me now. Vibrate would be nice so when you touch the screen you get some feed back that you have touched the screen.

I'm looking at buying this little gadget for the iPad next

I have a laptop  I actually have 2 laptops. A HP laptop and a MacBookPro

A PC I built my self which I will be using for my CNC when I have built my new work shop and I have ordered a new iMac which should  come on wed I hope.

My main reasons are for the Ipad are for videos pictures to show the clients what I have done. Also to give them an idea to what they want. I can quickly access the internet to look for sizes of ie. appliances or hingers or something so I know I what to do on the job with out the need to go out looking wasting time.  

I am been looking around for a Invoice Quote App but I have bought 5 already at like 3 -5 pounds and they all suck!  I found 1 which if for the Iphone which is currently just a free version and seems okay does the job but I rather have a Ipad version so im still looking if I cant find one ill pay for the full version the Iphone version.

I was hoping I could get sketchup on the Ipad I download this app called sketch up not reading wa it actually was and it aint sketch up dont know what it is lol.

A laptop could do all this YES and more BUT a laptop takes a while to start up Ipad is instant so you can just get it out of your van switch it on show pictures.  A laptop is bigger so you need to place it down as an Ipad you can just pass to the client to look at the pictures standing up. The batterie lasts AGES.     I play on games in my break time sometimes  [embarassed] heheee

I checked out the Ipad at the Verizon store, but I ended up getting the Samsung Galaxy Tab.  It includes a front and back facing camera, GPS, it can multi-task and is about half the size as an ipad.  Another feature is that the galaxy turns into a wi-fi hotspot so I can use my laptop on the road using the cellular network.

I liked the portablility of the smaller device.  I have had it for about a month and take it virtually everywhere with me.  I barely even use the desktop for internet surfing anymore.  As for using a laptop, most of the time you are on the road and need to do email or check something on the internet, you need to lug out and boot up a PC.  With a tablet, it you can keep it on all of the time, like a cell phone and it "boots-up" at the touch of a button.  I get about 7-hours of use-time on a charge and standby time is more than a day or two.  I think the Ipad is about 10 hours of use time.

Neither device replaces a laptop, but they are complimentary

I have downloaded quick sale premium I wish I read it more carefully as quick sale pro is all I needed  as premium is £20 and pro is less than £10 and the only difference is the premium u can set up different company setting but I only have one company so I have no use for that feature so kinda annoyed  I just thought I pay full price so I have everything idiot

I like it the only thing I don't like is is shows price per unit on invoice which is wa I dnt want I don't want the client seeing price per plasterboard and stuff  all I want them to see is subtotal of labour and material.

I have seen a app which is a instant quote designed so the client can stand next to u but cnt see the prices only subtotal and discount t if u want but it don't have material price just labour so no use to me.

I have sent quick sale a email askin if they could add a feature to remove unit cost on invoice and quote see wa they say
