I agree, all you need is enough pressure to get the fluid to the air cap. As fluid leaves the pot you increase the compressor tank volume, as long as the auxiliary tank has enough volume it should work. You will see a pressure drop.

OK, This is making much more sense to me now. Thanks to everyone for the help/advise. I am still learning and have a long way to go with spray finishing. I currently own a 4 stage Apollo and was wanting to try a pressure pot to get my spray gun into smaller areas when need be. I just sprayed Target em6500 on a built in bathroom vanity and it was quite a pain with the profile of the gun and gravity cup. Very frustrating doing the interior of the cabinet. I kept bumping the already sprayed areas.

Look at the PPS system, they have 8 oz. cup that will accept a 3 or 8 oz. liner. It compacts the gun. You can spray upside down with the PPS.

I would not give up the Apollo, the little I've used them they have been nice and comfortable.

With a gravity gun the arc of the hose may not gain you much room.

I am going to (respectively) disagree with Tom here. I would definitely get the pressure pot for your gun for this type of situation. Since you have an Apollo system you may want to take a look t their pressure pump/pot system.
To save money you can try the gravity gun, but I would think it would be easier to get a good siphon gun. I sprayed the inside of a small cabinet with my gravity cup on because I was too lazy to change over to the pot and I ended up having to sand out all my crappy finish. Not fun, I hate sanding.
BTW do you have a whip hose on that Apollo system?

The Apollo does have a whip hose. I am really happy with the machine and atomizer gun that came with it.Do you know if another manufacturers gun will fit my hvlp connection? In other words, is the hvlp a universal connection or do I need to stay with an Apollo gun since I have their turbine system?

All HVLP guns do not have the same connection.

Most guns designed for turbine systems have the same connection. There are some exceptions of course. I believe Accuspray, Fuji and Apollo guns all fit the same connection.

Which gun were you thinking of buying?

I was considering the Fuji T-70 siphon gun. I like the idea of the side control fan adjustment.

Tim, I offered the PPS as another option. The smaller vessel can really be handy and seeing as you can spray upside down it makes it similar to a siphon gun. My Fuji Xps gun is a side feed, I can turn the PPS adapter up or down, I get the best of both worlds. I'm left handed so it is really nice to be able to use the gun in any configuration, it may not be as comfortable for a righty. I run a check valve on my PPS thought it is not absolutely necessary to do so.

Pressure pots have their place, as the PPS and stock cup do.

One item I did not get and for some reason it slips my mind with orders is the cleaning bottle for the PPS, the bottle inserts into the adapter a few squeezes and your done cleaning.

If the T-70 is anything like the controls on my Xps, you should be extremely happy with it. As Tim said the hoses will interchange. Get the Fuji shut off valve for the end of the hose, it allows you to dial down pressure right at the gun. Comes in handy onb real thin product.

Tom, I agree. The smaller PPS cup for the gravity feed gun is definitely a good solution for tight spaces.

Hmmm, gotta check that out. Any advantage for WB coatings?

Yes they are a good addition, it also allows you to remove the gun from the hose before you turn off the turbine.

After seeing it I think I'll get restaurant squeeze bottle (I recall my wife just bought some, I'll let you know how they work . The advantage is you can flush the gun without having to install the cup or liner.
