I went to the festool-usa website through the link on this page to learn more info about the 1400 router and did not see it listed in the router section.Ther listings were for the 1010 and the 2200 models. Only the 2200 is capable of using a 1/2" collet and it is a larger router than I want. Is the 1400 being discontinued or replaced since it is not listed on the website?

Thanks for the info...I didn't want to buy a discontinued tool.
do you have any input or info concerning how the use of the 1400 is affected with having 2 different handles when used by a left handed person? This would be my first router that did not have the same handles. It doesn't make a difference when using my other festool products.
Thanks

[member=61628]fineartboxes[/member] I am left handed and own the 1400. I haven't had any issues with use. I can't really say that being left handed makes a difference when holding a router. The router must still move in the same directions and the 1400 can be easily held with the available handle and by the router itself.

To echo [member=19734]grbmds[/member], I don't think it should be an issue. The OF 1400 is one of a handful (no pun intended) of tools that lefties are sometimes concerned about before they purchase it, but we rarely about people struggling with it once they've tried it. You might struggle to reach the variable speed as easily as a rightie would, but that's about it. (I'm also left handed.)
