Is the Kapex right for my shop?

So after a full day of having the saw, obviously there is some muscle memory from the D handle dewalt were adapting to.  We noticed dust collection is definitely better. The dewalt, even with dust collection all around it would throw about a 8’ radius of chips from the wall. The cutter would typically be covered by lunch time. With the festool we only had large chips on the base and ground directly below the saw.  The only real gripe is the stand. It would be great for trades on the move, but as a stationary setup it has a bit to be desired. Does anyone know if the stand/extension wing setup has the 30 day trial period? If so it might be going back but I’m thinking the saw stays. Also it does seem to stay a lot cooler and definitely is quieter. Also yes it does toss cutoffs quite far. Not really and issue, sometimes it’s entertaining

Glad it worked out, I don’t believe the wings fall under the 30day return. You could list them on here in the classified. I’m a it fan of Festool but their wings are not very sturdy IMO. I would call the wings “just ok”.

If I were in a production mode I would try and build my own.

Thanks for the follow up

Yeh I understand the stand and wings probably excel when it comes to being portable. Probably not the smartest choice for my shop. I’ll give it the rest of the week but if I can’t return them they’ll end up for sale soon and I’ll just build new tables

As I understand it, if you bought the package deal with the saw, stand and the extension wings, if you want to return any piece of the package, the entire package must be returned.

Tools have a 30 day return window...accessories do not.

Festool breaks it down along the lines of, if the item has a serial number it's a tool, no serial number it's an accessory.  [smile]

I wasn't crazy about the stand at first but I realized I didn't have the leg levelers out enough and it had quite the wobble. Once I adjusted those it's pretty sturdy. The wings are great especially if you have other tools that they can be used on. I only leave the left wing setup for now due to shop space leaving the right wing open for attaching to my MFT or CMS. I don't envision having both of them on the saw unless I'm doing crown or baseboard.

He took about 10 days to ship it but it's pretty awesome.

I didn't know he had the ZCI. Does look interesting.  I made mine from oak but not 100% happy with it.  I would like to try this one but $13.50 to ship is just out of line, IMO.  TSO used to use similar shipping software but after complaints, they did something to fix it and it is much more reasonable now for smaller items.

Well turns out I think the stand and extension wings are going to be a no go for my shop. I got them from the Woodcraft so I would imagine I can just return them to their store since they seem to have a nice return policy. I’ll see about the return and pickup some t track while I’m there and build my own.

I would be surprised if Woodcraft won't take them back.  Question for you: have you looked at the MFT table made for the Kapex?  It has additional holes spaced for the mounting bolts and the height brings the saw's tables up level with the regular MFT tables.  Probably not how you want to set up (or reconfigure) your shop but worth a mention.

Just got the stand and fences returned without a single problem. Snagged a handful of t track pieces and I’ll get a table and fences worked up tomorrow hopefully. I’ve saw the MFT but it still wouldn’t be ideal for the location and our process. It does look super handy for tons of other applications though
