Is the OF 1010 router compatible with Whiteside inlay kit?

I don't see why not.  The 1010 has an adaptor plate that will accept standard threaded guide bushings which is what the Whiteside needs.  The shank on the router bit is 1/4" so as long as you have a 1/4" collet that should also work.

As Peter said should work without problem.

You may also want to buy an extra router bit at the same time, if you are doing some mission critical work. That's a 1/8 inch cutter diameter, so rather skinny. Go slowly, watch your feed rate and let the bit do the work without forcing it.

thanks for the heads up. i'm really looking forward to it. and i am also getting a jessem router table. :)

after looking carefully at my router, i believe it needs an adaptor in order to fit. Leigh Router Jigs has one called the 704R adaptor.

It does need an adapter. Here in the US it ships with the needed adapter. Don't know about what's included where you are.

Here is the adapter

This is actually different from the one that the 1010 comes with, which is a plastic version.  I actually think I'm going to get this metal one, however.  I've found that the plastic one is difficult to center using the mandrill, because it's such a snug fit in the base that it doesn't really adjust any further with the mandrill.  I just learned that the hard way with some hinge mortises I was cutting.

Edward,
You might consider doing a little research on this before buying.  I noted in the ratings a few folks gave it a low rating, stating it was plastic, not metal as seen in the photo......  Just saying check before you buy.

In speaking about the inlay "kit" from Whiteside, I too just purchased this set-up. I am hoping to "inlay" some metal laminate (brushed aluminum) into the face of a mahogany cabinet we are currently working on. I get the sense that this inlay kit should would pretty well although I am a bit skeptical on how well the 1/8" up spiral cutter will hold up cutting the metal laminate (phenolic backing)....wondering if anyone has any advice in this regard.....

Now that I wrote all this I probably should have just posted a new thread...sorry to ambush this conversation.....

I think you guys are right. That's not the right photo for the 1010 version. It says 1010 version is non metallic
