Is there a Festool Tool or accessory that you regret purchasing.

The hk55,  I thought it was going to be a great saw, but it's inability to cut 2x on a 45 degree bevel makes it useless as a construction saw.

I'm guessing this is with the saw on the FSK guide rail?

"I also wish in the US, we could buy just the CMS-VL".  [dead horse]

I bought the rail stop kits for my routing needs.  But now that I have a router table I have no real need for the, at all.  I've used them maybe once. [eek]

Not really, but I think I dodged a bullet by doing a side-by-side of the Carvex 420 alongside the Bosch 160, and got the Bosch.

If I'm working without the CT I just attach the hose to the saw and most of the dust finishes inside the hose instead of in my face.
I have been known to do the same. Works pretty well for a few quick cuts.

And the guide rail deflector.

+1 on the guide rail deflector

I purchased it to solve a problem and instead it created another problem.
I no longer use mine either.

My add-on to this thread is the Festool miter gauge for the tracksaw. First it required immediate modification to be functional as it didn't have enough friction to hold an angle. Second it...well sucks. Fortunately aftermarket companies have stepped in and filled the void.

The parallel guides.  I really gave them a chance but in the end I couldn't take it anymore.  They are heavy and the yoke from the extensions for cutting narrow stock gets in the way.  Then I resorted to using a ruler with a ruler stop while abutting it the cut's waste side to get my narrow cuts.  And I just bought the Precision Parallel Guides, have yet to try them and I'm hopeful they will be what I'm looking for.

Yeah, I agree.  Expensive.  Heavy.  Poorly designed with no cursor for precise location on the measurement strip.  Difficult to slide into position.  Must hang off the ends.  Clumsy.

I made my own from plywood in an extra long and regular version.  They work much better and are easier to use.

I try and research things before I buy, so no real regrets. But I have sold both my Trion and Carvex jigsaws and the accessory set as I find Bosch and Mafell to fit my needs better. I have changed drills and sold off older ones. But other than that no real regrets. There are certainly tools I use more often, but when the need arises for a particular tool or accessory I am glad to have some options.

It's funny isn't it. . how different people rate or dismiss the same product! There are several post here bashing the Carvex 420 and Trion Jigsaws . . . .

I have never used better jigsaws (not used maffel but used several high end bosch & makita). And I have never burned up a blade unless I knew I was overworking the wrong blade for the cut.

Literally everyone who uses one of my jigsaws (after I have set the blade guides for the current blade) exclaims at how good they are!! Honestly this is true.  In fact one fella once put down my Carvex 18v, after cutting quite a complex hole through the rail of an oak door, and exclaimed "Festool is like Crack man, seriously addictive".

i dont regret anything really, i think every penny spent on tools is better than a few rounds of beers with the guys and have nothing to show for but many trips to the unrinal.

As a new to Festool owner, this thread has helped me tremendously. I've been keeping my eye out for a Carvex, but honestly I have a Bosch that works just fine. It is purely for want of another Festool product that fits nicely in it's own systainer. thanks for helping me get over that hump :)
I don't dislike my carvex.  I wish I'd got the cordless version but I still don't dislike mine.  I don't find jigsaws to be precision tools in general but they have their purpose.  If I can avoid using one I do.  I like how the light works on the saw, the dust collection (sorta), and how it has a variety if base plates for a variety of materials/situations (thought I really only use a few of them).

I'm with you on this.  Although I do have an occasional one.

You're right, Seth mentioned the same thing in post 36... [tongue]

Funny thing is, I like both my Trion and Carvex saws. Still own them...still use them, a ton better than the Milwaukee I used to own.

I too like my Carvex 420 and love that it's cordless!

The Kapex, hands down.  The danged thing isn't even close to being accurate.  Of by as much as a degree or so.  Inexcusable.

My CMS VL.  Fence is clumsy, multiple parts of the table top and edges aren't perfectly coplaner.  I thought I could use my Kapex wings with this for infeed and outfeed, but that creates another surface that doesn't quite line up right.  Sliding table is great until saw dust cakes inside the tracks, so you have to check the tracks frequently if using the table.  It is nice that it can serve as an extension to my MFT when the router is not in use.  I think eventually a dedicated table and router with a cast iron top will replace it.

I'm one of those neurotics that tends to buy all accessories for my tools knowing tha usually I will find a use for them.  That being said I have quite a few things that I do not use regularly.  I agree with quite a few posters that often making some of the accessories reguires some tweeking to make them usefull.  The CMS fence really was a pain to adjust minutely so I bought Woodpeckers fence adjustor and modified a 4"x 2" heavy channel to give me fine adjustment.  It works so well I'm considering buying another and replacing the Incra LS adjustor on my older large table.  As far as the carvex complaints, I have the corded and cordless versions, and love them both.  My personal op is that most problems are with adjusting the guides to individual blades.  I have an older Bosch, the 1582 barrel that I've had 30 years that is also a good saw.

Could you start another thread with some pictures and an explanation of your router fence?

Sorry Harvey, My pics will not attachand I have not taken the time to figure out why.  Some of my earlier posts have some pics but lately nothing sticks...I keep getting a Fakepath messange.
