I too like my Carvex 420 and love that it's cordless!

I envy you...I wish I would have opted for the cordless Carvex...but I was way into the Milwaukee battery platform at the time.  [sad] [crying] [sad]

The Trion and Carvex were both good saws and I never had issues with adjusting blade guides. But, I did have challenges cutting straight on the rail or using a fence. The Carvex had a slight amount of where the base mounted to the saw and this caused some inaccuracies. I might buy a cordless version, though, as I think it is the best cordless option available and having one would be perfect in many applications. I would probably just get the saw as the bases really were not useful for most of my cutting needs.

I bought a Bosch 470 instead. I will miss the led lights, but not adjusting the g-d blade guide all the time.

[member=21412]bkharman[/member] can you say more about your MFT setup? I have a track saw but no table, i'm cutting on the floor for now. I've got a craigslist alert and I think I want the full table with angle guide and everything. Would love to learn more about how you've got things set up.

Also for some reference, i've got a small shop, so i'm trying to get as much mileage out of the track saw as I can. No room for a permanent chop saw, table saw, etc. I was thinking the full MFT would help replace a few other tools (even if it's not an ideal replacement).

By the way [member=64213]schneems[/member] , If you still want the full kit and only find the table on CL or elsewhere, I will be glad to sell you the rest of it (maybe minus the small rail) on the cheap.  It just sits on a shelf for the most part collecting dust (not sawdust!).

The Kapex, hands down.  The danged thing isn't even close to being accurate.  Of by as much as a degree or so.  Inexcusable.

Just adjust the Kapex. Look at the Kapex Supplemental Users Manual, page 24.

From the factory, my Kapex was within .12º and after some tweaking I got it to within .05º.

I bought the Bosch JS572 and it has a LED light and great dust collection.  After reading all the problems with the Carvex and friends that have it telling me not to buy it I bought the Bosch and it's amazing.

I thought about the 572, but it was $100 more, and I don't really use it enough to justify just for some lights. And I like Bosch's dust blower, it goes all over (like every jigsaw) but at least I can see my cut line.

Guide rail end deflector just doesn't work and Carvex accessory sys, never use anything in it. That's it.

OF 1400.  It was too big to be convenient but not powerful enough to replace a true 3hp router.  I found the ergonomics of the strange handle setup to be awkward.  Bad visibility.  Given the price and the competition in this space, it should certainly have LEDs or some sort of light.  Sold and bought the 2200.  Might get the 1100 for small work/with the shelf pin jig.

The only thing that I regret purchasing was the Kapex saw w/stand and extensions. The Kapex saw is only a 10" saw, I install cabinets for a living, a 10" saw just doesn't cut it. My only regret for the kapex was in the returning of the saw, stand and extensions. I was only able to return the saw and not the stand and extensions. So now  I am stuck with the stand and extensions that I cannot use at a cost of $888.00. If anyone is need of a kapex. stand & extensions I will happy to let them go at a discounted rate.

That goofy tape measure. Would never retract correctly. I gave it to my wife (actually I just let it sit on the counter) She uses it because she doesn't know the difference.
But I'm glad I bought the cxs drill because I found it  [big grin] It was the last place I looked. Why is everything I find in the last place I look? [unsure]

cl12 drill ts15 drill and trion jig saw.  Totally unacceptable tools, in the systainer using makita, dewalt tools.  I have no issue with ALL of the other festool tools i own like, kapex, ts75, six 1080's, mfs 400 and 700, all of the sanders toolie tools tapes, ETC ETC I am a Festool Nut, but for me NO DRILLS AND NO JIG SAW

Kapex hands down.  I kept trying to like it, but I should have just given up and returned it.  Instead I sold it for a fair loss a few months later.

I'll also put on my flame suit and say the Domino too.  I still use it from time to time, but its so fiddly, never as accurate as I'd like, so much room for error, and so un-egronomic.

Parallel Guide for the Track saw - For me it is very cumbersome and hard to set. I have spent WAY to much time trying to calibrate
and set it up. And being Metric only, adds another level of complexity. Now I use simple plywood sliding sticks.  The Festool Parallel guides have not be used in a long time.

Some errors come from the multitude of adjustments that need to be made on the tool: bit, depth, height, angle, width.  I'll sometimes forget to change one of them, which can be disastrous.  By accuracy I just mean that when I try to glue up a panel, the faces rarely end up perfect and require to much sanding.  The outrigger guides are basically worthless, they don't stay attached well, and its far to easy for little position errors to accumulate on a long run making the dominos not line up.

Most of this is certainly user error, but I feel like there are just way to many ways for the user to make errors with a domino.

Hose Hook  [embarassed]

I just received the hose hook and discovered that it is not compatible with the new CT dust extractors. I should have read the details better as it is for the older CT11, 22, and 33. I thought that there was a hose hook for the newer CTs.  [scratch chin]
