Is there a plan for Festool 12V (10.8) brushless impact?

Hello to everyone.  I am now learning about the Festool family and looking forward to replacing my existing tool set with Festool. I will start out by admitting I am not in the woodworking or cabinet or construction or anything like that.  I just like fine tools and excellent engineering.  Festool seems to have that from what I have found so far.  I will be using mainly for home use and for screwing in a deck here or there.  Soon most likely a swing set and the traditional stuff for a new family.  IT seems that lots of my use has been either over head or lying on my back holding the drill/impact up etc.  So the lighter the better is what I have come to appreciate but I also still want to have the power and such.

I currently own Dewalt 12v max impact and drill.  I have had the Bosch, Milwaukee, Mikita and back in the day Hilti and Panasonic (old school) drills, drivers, 90 degree tools etc.  I have narrowed down and sold off everything except for the Dewalt setup that I got last year as a gift.  It has served me well even though I have bogged down the drill and caused it to stop working until it cooled down etc however the impact has been spot on so far with no complaints yet.  I used it to re-secure a copy screws down on our deck and here there on the car etc.

I am now looking into the Brushless technology and from what I have found so far the Festool is the only ones playing with brushless in the 10.8 (12V) category.

I am thinking about getting a C12 Li but would like to compliment that with an impact as well.  I have already started to appreciate the 90 degree attachment (wish I had that a couple of times) and the attachment that lets you get to screws/bolts that are really close to the wall edge (sure have stripped out a few screws using my old tools trying to put in or take out these types ).

I am also thinking of buying the Festool Systainer and Sortainer etc for some serious garage cleanup/organization.

Thanks in advance and I look forward to reading/learning from many of the experienced members here.  So please don't hold my noob questions against me.  Just trying to learn as much as fast as possible.

[welcome]

I wouldn't be holding my breathe for a 12v impact to be released by Festool - let alone being released on your side of the pond. The Ti15 is reasonably new and Festool don't move that quick.

I have CXS, C15 and Ti15 and these cover the bases pretty well. I'm waiting on on the new release of the Protool PDC18-4 ... but these haven't hit the US market yet (crazy that they haven't) - closest you have there is the T18 (a great drill though).

Systainers are an addiction if you don't keep them in check - I've lost count.

You guys get 30 days to play before you're committed - my advise would be to try the one(s) than you feel most comfortable with and swap up/down from there.

Welcome to the FOG Cue!  First, don't worry about asking any questions, this is a very friendly bunch and we're all happy to help out.

As for your question bout the possibility of a 12v impact, who knows.  Well, I'm sure someone out there knows but they aren't talking.  Festool has been adding more cordless tools to the lineup of late so it's not out of the question.  If I have do guess I'd probably not in the foreseeable future.  My guess is on the assumption that Festool is still feeling out the cordless tool market.  I wouldn't be surprised if the Protool line of tools (a sister company to Festool that aren't available here in N. America) might see more cordless tools in the more immediate future.  Like I said, that's purely a guess.

In the meantime you might want to think about jumping up to the Festool 15v drill class and consider the TI 15 impact driver that has an ETA for this fall.

Welcome!

If you read around the forum there seems to be mostly positive posts about ProTool impact guns.  What we need is a good U.S. importer for the ProTool line...  [wink]

Hi cue,

Welcome to the FOG!

No current news of an upcoming 12v impact. Barring that or the Ti15 Impact something to consider  is that the C12 Drill is 14+ oz lighter than the C15. You mentioned that as a concern.

The Ti15 is just out, I think Festool will first have a thorough look at how this tool will do in the market before they expand the line. That might take a couple of years.

Thanks for the replies and for the welcome. I may have ti check out the Ti 15.  Or maybe just get the C12 Li and keep the Dewalt impact and just wait it out to see what festool does.

As for the systainers, those things are already addictive.  I am up to a count of wanting/needing like 6 or 7 for various things in the garage.  Sure other bins and storage systems would work just as well but it won't look as good as the systainers do and won't work together either.  Now looking at maybe getting 2 sys ports for all the systainers.

I can see this cost getting out of hand very quickly.  [scared]

Wait till you start buying Festool sanders (in Sytainers) and then matching abrasive storage Systainers ... then there's Dominos and domino storage Sytainers  [eek]

It's about time Festool sold abrasives in useful plastic containers that fit into the appropriate size Systainers - then become useful parts bins when you've used up the contents.
