Is there an "old" TID18?

A dealer I found has a TID 18 discounted to $350. I asked why and the staff thinks it's because it's an older model, but I've looked and compared it to the TID18 on display and they look the same. Am I missing something? Or do I need to run back there and pick it up?

It’ll probably be an older model number because of some other Systainer or Systainer insert change. Or a battery change in the model variant.

There was an older 15v impact from over 10 years ago. That one looks nothing like a TID 18.

If it looks like a TID18 then it is the one and only version of the TID 18

Happy shopping

The tool, itself, will be the same as anything currently sold. If anything, it's the Systainer (T-Loc vs. Sys3) and possibly batteries included if it was a full kit.

The TID was one of the first tools to come in a Systainer3, and it was one of the earlier 4.0 Ah-HiPo battery tools, so neither of those "typical" changes (Systainer or battery) were the reasoning.

That said, now they come in the Sys3 M187 DF, which has the bit storage lid, so if the one at your retailer has a normal lid, that's the reason it's "old" and also has a different SKU.

I looked back through my catalog of Festool catalogs and, yep, as squall_line mentions, the TID was introduced in a Sys3. Specifically, 2021 is the first time I see it in a catalog.
