Hello guys, for some personal reason i didn't  complete my purchase for about $5K before April price increase. Is there any way to buy all the tools for old price?  [sad]

Thanks

Welcome to the FOG!

I don't speak for Festool here at all.  But, my guess would be no.  The advance notice is not a requirement but merely a courtesy.  The dealers will be charge a higher price for their inventory and Festool's prices are the same along all dealers.  You can always ask, but....

Quote from Wikipedia -
'DeLorean also sought lucrative incentives from various government and economic organizations to pay for constructing the company's automobile manufacturing facilities. To gain these, he looked to build his first factory in a country or area where unemployment was particularly high. One candidate was the Republic of Ireland, although the country's then Minister for Industry and Commerce, Desmond O'Malley, decided not to support the project. A deal in Puerto Rico was about to be agreed when DeLorean took up a last-minute offer from the UK Northern Ireland's Industrial Development Board. Besides taking some early seed capital from Hollywood stars Sammy Davis Jr. and Johnny Carson, DeLorean Motor Company relied on the British government for about $120 million of its $200 million startup costs according to the newspaper The Times. The British government was very keen to create jobs in Northern Ireland to reduce sectarian violence by reducing unemployment. As part of this offer, DeLorean was apparently under the impression that the British government would provide his company with Export Credit financing. This would provide a loan of 80% of the wholesale cost of the vehicles (US$20,000) upon completion and delivery for shipping.'

The year of the time machine, the DMC-12 was made in Dunmurry Ireland. In 1995 NOS production started in Humble Texas.

Yep,  The only thing Delorean made in the USA, was a fool of himself.

I believe the flux capacitor only worked because of the stainless steel body of the DMC-12. Can't have one without the other. [laughing]

Yeah...  I get all the jokes, but wait!

Are there are any objective reasons for a price increase exactly on April 1st? Dollar exchange rate goes up, oil prices are at very low level. So the only reason to increase the prices on Festool, as I understand, is just greed. Tell me that you don’t agree!

I’ll purchased what I planned anyways, even if it costs me more, but the aftertaste from all this experience is very unpleasant.

Take care and hope you have a good week.

I do agree
I'm just glad I got most of my tools years ago when it was more affordable

AFAIK it has never been stated, but I suspect that the reason the price is raised on April 1st is that it is probably the start of their fiscal year so it makes the accounting easier.

1) Prices go up, there's inflation on parts, wages, production, etc, etc...

2) Festool, at least went to the trouble of forewarning their customers before the price increase in the new financial year, that's hardly greedy.

3) My best advice if spending $5k would be to strike a deal with your local dealer and see if he'll honour the old prices given you're spending a fairly large sum in one go.

Jokes aside, even though that was fun.
    I enquired yesterday with my Festool dealer why there were no prices on any murchandise and he told me that Festool prices went up on 1st April and they have had to remove all the old prices. If I need anything they will price check it but they will have to sell it to me at the new prices. He also said,  Sorry but Festool policy.

[size=14pt]G Day DB,

By not displaying prices, your dealer may be in breach of Australian Consumer Law.
[size=10pt]
'Prices displayed by a business must be clear, accurate and not misleading to consumers. You should always display the total price of a product or service. Certain grocery retailers must also display unit pricing on their shelf labels.'

If the dollar goes up, why would that mean stuff you buy in your own country becomes cheaper? You all got the same dollar in America, right?

A stronger dollar means you can buy stuff cheaper in OTHER countries.

If you buy a tool from Festool now, that stuff you get was bought by Festool USA from Festool headquarters in Germany many moons ago. Bought with dollars at a moment when the dollar was weaker against the euro than it is now. Festool USA will want to see their investment back at their normal profit rate.

And the yearly price increase, that's just normal inflation correction. Happens every year with every product, not just Festools.
