Not exactly a tool or machine, but without it I wouldn't get to use most of my stuff.

112.5kva transformer, 480v high voltage 240 low, 3 phase. Yes I can use a center tap for 120v lighting, but I have another transformer I am setting that will feed a single phase panel for lights and recepts.

I will have 250a of 480v 3phase, 250a of 240v 3phase.

Industrial electricity is expensive

Getting excited now

Hmmm, I didn't see that at Home Depot, must have missed it...
BTW, is that new for you or were you using it at your old shop?

You find the coolest machines.  Do you refurbish or sell some of these machines or is it for your own use?

Wish you were closer if any was for sale

Lol @ Acme Transformer, a division of Acme Electric.  I thought only Wyle E. Coyote got his stuff from Acme.

My main 250a 480v breaker showed up today.  Almost done with lights in the building and soon it will be time to set panels.

Well, things never seem to go as planned.  Turns out I had to step up my power a bit.

By code, after my calcs, I needed to protect my 112kva transformer on the primary side with about 175a and about 350a on the secondary side.

So, I had to go track down some panels.  BTW, 400a 480v 3phase and even 400a 240v 3phase panels are not cheap.  New, a panel with just a 400a main breaker will cost well north of 5k.

From left to right:

400a 480v 3phase, 100a 480v 3phase sub panel, 400a 240v 3phase, 200a single phase.  I have one more transformer that is not in the picture that is feed from the small 480v panel and then turns into single phase.  I have a couple wire through's to mount and some big ass wire to pull.

Just thought I'd share a picture of the other side of the wall [big grin]

Ya, that puts any Festool price increases into perspective!
