Japanese woodworking classes

This current era is an explosion of woodworking. I have attended several classes and now have more options available than I will ever have vacation days.

The one void I see are classes or one training for Japanese tools and work methods. There are two or three blogs that I have come across that focus on Japanese techniques but the most popular one is geared towards carpentry.  There have been two DVDs on Japanese tools as well.

Does anyone have good sources exclusive to furniture building using Japanese tools and techniques? Any chance there is a Japanese woodworking magazine that is translated?

Shawn,

One tip that I learned from the folks at Japan Woodworker before they closed their retail outlet concerned Japanese wood planes.  I have several Japanese wood planes that I sharpened and set the chip breaker that didn't perform worth very well.  I brought one of them in and one of the old timers took out the chip breaker and it worked like a charm.  He told me that they don't use the chip breaker in Japan it was only added for the American/European market.

I did not know that Jay taught classes. That will be a good road to follow. Thanks!

I have his 3 DVDs. I highly recommend them.

Check out Jay van Arsdale

I think he has some DVDs.  A buddy of mine took one of his classes and spoke very highly of him.
