Jessem Rout R Lift - Prestige experiences

In the UK , about the only thing I know available for a lift is Makita's 2.25hp router #3601.

That market seems to favor medium to large plunge only routers which aren't the best for lift tables. Or are even compatible with most lifts.

In the U.S., in addition to that makita, porter cable 89x , Dewalt 618, and Bosch 16xx routers are the top sellers for router table lifts.  Usually bought in kits with a fixed and plunge base, guys will use it in their lift and have the option to pull it out for handheld use in one of the bases.

Porter Cable 7518 is a 3.25 hp router than some use for their lifts.  It's been around for decades and has lots of power.  Milwaukee has the 5625, but it's not a big seller.  I don't know anyone who uses these in a lift that doesn't have at least one other smaller router for handheld work.

Thanks for the feedback.  As I said, I'm happy with the Triton and will stick with that.  I have four routers for handheld use - an OF1010, and OF1400, a DeWalt 621 and a Bosch.

Thanks again.

The height adjustment accuracy isn't great (I think it's 2mm per turn) but adequate for my needs.  If I need high accuracy I'll back it down and then raise it again to the new height.

And I agree, the dust collection on the Triton isn't a patch of that of the OF1400.

What would you recommend to go in a lift?

[member=6802]Roseland[/member] I personally have the PC7518 but, as was already stated, I think, it's unclear whether this motor is available in 230V, if that is what you require. It is a very powerful motor and there is nothing I would ever have it do that it couldn't. Plus, the Incra lift (which I still believe is really a Jessem lift) is already set up as purchased from Incra just for this motor, so installation involves just setting it in place and tightening down the appropriate mounts.

In addition, the following router motors are compatible with this lift:

Porter Cable 7518, 690-699 series, & 890-899 series
Bosch 1617EVS,1618
DeWalt DW610 & DW618
Makita RF1101 & RD1101
Hitachi M12VC & KM12VC
Milwaukee 5625, 5615, 5616, & 5619
Craftsman 17543, 17540, & 28190
Rigid R29302

The Triton isn't listed, but it's possible that this list isn't complete. I don't know which other motors would also be available in 230V. I would think any of these would be OK, but would think the other PC, Bosch, Dewalt, Makita, and Milwaukee would be the best choices, depending on the HP rating of each and the needs of the user. However, the only direct experience I have with routers is Makita, PC, Dewalt, and Triton. (I did own a Ryobi and an old Craftsman at one point and, while they were OK, they weren't made for heavy duty use.)

Can't go wrong with any of those for sure.

I've been using a PC 7518 in a Bench Dog Tools 40-150 ProLift  more than 20 years.  This thing is a beast weighing 25 lbs. Add the 14 1/2 lbs of the router and you have one very massive almost shaper like machine.  I replaced the collet and nut with an Eliminator Quick Change Router Chuck.

I do not mind running a sander on a 230->115 transformer, but I do not prefer it..

A  2-2.6 kW router seems like it deserves good power in the 220/221/230v range.

Basically it did not appear that Jessem supported Eu routers and US router were not available in Eu voltage.

Had the Bench Dog ProLift and while it was really nice and solid I upgraded to the Incra lift to get the CleanSweep magnetic inserts. They make a big difference for dust collection. That said Id never heard of the Eliminator Quick Change Router Chuck before. Pricey but I have have to pick one up to try out.

I use the now discontinued Dust Router attachment for under table extraction and it works great.  I get less than a table spoon of chips escaping into my cabinet.

The PC 7518/9 has been available in 220v for decades.

I assume it still is.
