I see JLC Live is going to happen this year.  Anyone going and will Festool be kind enough again to give out a promo code for free admission?

Hi Jim,

I assume that you meant to type JLC Live 2022 instead of ...2020.

I have changed the title of the thread.

Peter

I asked last week about a Festool booth.  They will not have a separate booth but will be doing demos at the US Tool and Fastener Booth.

I don't know about the free admissions but suspect that was part of the "perks" of having a huge booth in prior years.  I'll ask about that for you if an answer doesn't pop up here before I can.

Just got the JLC Live invitation for 2024.  Do you know if festool will be back with their large presence again?  Also if there is a promo code?  Thanks

I don’t see Festool listed as an exhibitor on the JlcLive website.  That doesn’t surprise me. The last several shows they piggy backed with a dealer (I believe it was US Tool & Fasteners) and demoed from their booth.  I suspect gone are the days of the huge display areas like they did for many years. Space is extremely expensive and probably came along with a less than desired r.o.i.

All educated guesses on my end.

Two notes:
1. JLC Live and all other conferences are of limited value as companies can push their products via social media, tool review sites, and other websites.
2. JLC Live is not exactly packed with "new" Festool customers. Those who know about Festool have some and those who do not are shocked at the cost.

I would point out that there is still a sizable portion of the customer base who does not use social media, so a company's presence on Tik-Tok has no relevancy for me, and there's something to be said for handling some things in-person.

For instance, I'll be attending Fensterbau-Frontale in the Spring so I can get hands-on with the hardware and speak with company reps directly (and enjoy two weeks of German food).

Interestingly, I see Festool had a booth at Holz-Handwerk in 2022, but they're not listed as exhibitors for 2024, so perhaps they've "drunk the kool-aid" themselves regarding social media marketing? I for one just find the short-form videos un-watchable, and refuse to watch videos that post the title as a question,  but at 44 years old I suppose I'm approaching the "old man yelling at the wind" point in my life...  [wink]

Tom, to the best of my knowledge, Festool will be at Holz-Handwerk in March. Hall 12, Booth 12.0-204.

You won't find them through the Fensterbau web-front, but through the Holz-Handwerk web-front they pop up as exhibitor when doing a search for Festool.

Would be a major mistake to not exhibit there, if you ask me. And I totally agree with your sentiment towards TikTok and the like!

However, Festool HQ did a survey a whole while back asking the participants about the importance and willingness of participating in "in person exhibitions/ trade fairs" vs. "online formats" after the whole Covid thing.

They might have received quite a mixed bags of answers as I have no idea how they choose who they send those survey invites to.

Are you spending the whole two weeks in Nuremberg? If you need the address of a very trusted, high-end & top notch tool dealer including show room for large scale stationary machinery (both, for wood and metal working, even robotic welding) shoot me a PM.

It's 50km one-way from central Nuremberg but definitely worth the visit. If you get to plan ahead, I can get you in touch with "my guy" there.

They might even have a booth/ partner with another exhibitor @ Holz-Handwerk, I think that was the case last time.

Only one drawback if you want, not a Festool dealer. But Mafell will make up for that, I guess. ;)

Kind regards,
Oliver

Hi Oliver,

That's great to hear about Festool having a booth at Holz-Handwerk. There are several other vendors not listed on the website that I suspect will be there.

Regarding the Fensterbau trip, I'll be traveling with a group, with the following itinerary:
-- Wednesday March 13: Gather at Frankfurt airport
-- Thursday-Friday March 14-15: Visit two door/window shops each day, traveling via tour bus
-- Friday night-Monday morning: Weekend in Heidelberg
-- Monday March 18: Visit one door/window shop, travel to Nuremberg
-- Tuesday-Friday: Explore the Fensterbau-Frontale show, hopefully get over to Holz-Handwerk if time allows
-- Saturday: Fly home

The purpose of the trip is to gather further insights into tilt/turn windows, rebated entry doors, associated hardware and related products, but I'll certainly be keeping my eyes out for tools/equipment not available in North America. I'll send you a PM regarding the resource you're referencing. The host has graciously already lined up all hotels, travel, etc, all I need to do is get myself to Frankfurt with an appetite.

Should be a fun trip, I'm hoping to justify a trip to Ligna in 2025.....
