what a great day of learning new tips and tricks at the lebonon festool router training class.  thought you all might like to see some of the pictures from today.

Looks like you guys are having fun.

Love the wall of Festool behind you guys. Ceiling to floor Sysports, wow! That is a lot of tools.

Nice pictures Kreg!

Are the Sysports sold without the wheels?  Me-thinks maybe a lot of people might be interested in that... minus the casters' cost (which stand alone they're $73).  Is that what those are-- Non-mobile Sysports?

Wow this looks awesome Kreg. How long was the class and how often do these classes happen?

Man I wish this type of thing would come to SA :(

Chris, Festool USA does these classes every few months or so (the last class was in April).  They are two days, about eight hours each day.  Right now the class offerings are, Advanced Router Techniques and On Site Cabinet Construction.  I believe Festool is considering expanding the curriculum.

[mad] Ugh, why did I have to look at this.  I was very satisfied with my router and doing well at paying down my credit card till I saw that horizontal edge guide attachment.

How much are these classes and do you get a discount  [unsure] on any tools when taking the class? hehe

The classes are $ 100, and no discount on tools.  But they feed you well, lunches and dinner.

well just finished up tuesday Class and boy did we have fun and learn a lot about the differant routers, attachments for the routers and different applications.  this class has been well worth my time and cost to come up here and learn.

here are some more pictures from today.

group shot
making a large radius with the mfs 700 (great accessory !)

Project they had us make of a happy happy face,  well actually they had us make 2 circles using the mfs 700 and me and tom just turned it into a happy face !
Had to Add my Bandana so you would reconize me !

Using the 2200 Router
Map with pins showing cities where class attendees have come from,,, guess which one is mine !

a few other shots doing different techniques.

Craig & Shane,

Is there anyway you can tell us who is who in the group photo?  I think most of us know Craig, but who are the others?

I think it had been mentioned in regards to the first class when this question was asked.  The concern was that it violates some personal privacy issues.  I certainly would not want to do that.

I want to say;

Thank you very much to Brian and Steve for teaching me/us so much about the router accessories. They are what truly make the routers as special as they are.

To the other staff at Festool thank you so very much for your hospitality.

I attended the "On site cabinet building" class, both times the staff was very gracious.

I learned alot from the other participants, so a "thank you" to all of you also.

For those thinking of attending, it is well worth the price of admission.

Kreg as always it was a pleasure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thomas Bader (so now you know my screen name)

The canary is out of the bag.   [scared]  Yes I am wearing the yellow shirt and have half blonde hair / no hair.  Yes, I have not been active on the Forum over the last few days because I am attending training classes so that I can try to assist others with issues.

Besides that - I am having a great time and have met some fabulous people!

I will not confirm other's identities, based on Kreg's memory, that is up to them.

Attended the Router Class for the past two day and it was great!
Had  already attended the cabinet class in February.

There is nothing like being able to actually use the tools and the catalog does not do justice to many of the accessories.

It was the first time I had used the 2200 Router (with a one inch roundover bit in hard maple).
Did the round over in a single pass and was a little apprehensive about taking that much off in one pass.

I was amazed!
I had to look to see that I actually made the full cut since I did not feel the router vary in speed or torque while cutting.
I had heard other people discussing using it for raised panel work and now I understand why.

Again, great class guys!

Kreg,

First of all, thanks for the names.  Second, I am sorry I got your first name wrong.  I could have sworn it was "Craig" and that "Kreg" was your screen name.  I will be sure to get it right in the future.

The router class opened my mind to many more things I can do with my Festool routers.  For me the ligth bulb went on, when the importance of the engraved center line on each router was stressed.  It's use will simplify lay outs.  It provides a reference point for the center of any bit.

The tips & tricks alone make the course worth more than we were charged.  If your clamping elements are not as tight as you want, using a 3mm Allen wrench tighten the screw on the rear right of the clamp. Or loosen if too tight.

Cannot stress how much fun attend has been. Brain & Steve know their tools and how to pass that information on.  Shane has kept us well feed and informed.  My classmates were a mix of wood workers and professionals.

Looking forward to the Cabinet class Thursday & Friday.
