The dealer told me I could do my entire kitchen job with it instead of using my table saw.  I'm breaking down 3/4 melamine and he said, "breaking down"  use it for finish cuts.

So, the budget is NOW tight, parallel guides are not gonna happen till after the holidays.  He said this is the place to ask for advice on making jigs or something to make repeatable cuts etc.  i.e  upper cabinet sides..12x42  I need to make 20 of the for example.  What is the best way to do that and get the repeatability my table saw gives me?

By no means am I getting rid of my table saw............Yet  :)

Looking forward to the help and great info on this site

the simplest way is to cut yourself some story sticks out of some scrap

Joe,

Your situation sounds familiar.  You wouldn't happen to have a "brown dog" would you?  [big grin]

I believe you have a 4x8 workbench. If that's where you want to use your new saw, please post a pic of it to give us an idea of your work environment.  This would help to define the best cutting jig.

Regards,

Dan.

set your table saw fence at 12,  slide 4 x 8 sheet to fence on sacrificial top placed upon table saw, square up rails and rip.
That's one way, ymmv (your mileage may very)

Congrats on your Festool purchase.  [smile]

Also posted this on the Melamine post.

HAd a riot today witht the new TS55  I bit the bullet and went out and bought the parallel guides....Nice investment, I did try to make a pair myself and they worked out good but I believe there is no comparison to the real deal.

Cut 17 sheets of Melamine..Ughhhh I hate that stuff

Here is what i posted on the Melamine thread

Hmmm, I got chipout like the rest report with the stock blade.  It did start off good but fell off after several sheets.  This is the Industrial grade stuff so not the cheap stuff from big box.  I'll do a tune up tomorrow and see if anything changes.  I did predict this so I cut everything a hair large then trimmed it up on the Table saw with a 80 tooth LU97..Heck, even that thing brand new gives me a tiny bit of chip out.

I will say I had a riot however with the new toy...I can see this thing being very handy

Glad to hear you got to play with the parallel guides!

In the next couple of weeks I envision making 4 homemade sysports to hold my systainers and an open web cutting table like RDMuller had in his videos and will also be looking forward to quality time with mine.

Melamine can be a nasty 8 letter word!  [scared]
