So day I just when and got my first festool. I got the ts55 and mft/3 plus I got the 106" rail to. I been looking in to festool
for along time. But now that my old saw take a shit on me figure I upgrade to a better saw. I cant wait to see how it works have a job coming up soon I can test it out on. But the only thing I don't know about is how to setup something to cut down the sheet of plywood I need to. I down think sawhorse will work. Does anyone know a good way to cut down sheet goods with the rails so it will
not bow in the middle? I was thinking of just using some 2x4s.

A good way is to get an 8x4 sheet of insulation foam as a sacrificial surface and lay it under the sheet of ply. That way the wood is supported everywhere. Put it on the ground or on a table.

Another solution is to make a torsion box out of plywood. The resulting raster of wood also gives lots of support. You can put a torsion box on saw horses.

Oh, and welcome to the FOG.  [smile]

Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

By having a sacrificial piece under the entire sheet you won't have to worry about pieces that you cut dropping off the edge or through in between 2 x 4s. The dust collection is improved also.

Hi Zipper21

Here's a pic of my first "cutting table. Quick and easy to make. I used to just use 16mm MDF packers as a base. Really cheap if not free from local supplier.

Cheers

Some guys make cutting tables you can do a search here and find all sorts of examples of portable tables to use on site.

I am shop bound and use 2 MFTs with 2x on the tables to keep from cutting into it.

You might want to go to u tube and check out the ron paulks ultimate work bench, a lot of guys have built that one and seem to be very happy with it.

I've used an extra sheet of waferboard to cut on.  I use a DeWalt track saw which is better for depth adjustment but even with a festool you can set the depth accurately and only skim the sheet under.  I prefer to use a lattice of 1x4s on edge I put over saw horses.  When I get done with my shop, I will have a 3x6 or 7 foot workbench on casters with a Paulk style top.  I'll cut on that.  I'll probably keep the lattice, however.  I sometimes use it directly on the trailer I haul the sheet goods home in.  Saves handling.
