Just pulled the trigger on TS55 need advice

I swore up and down for years I would not get one.  Came home with me last night and I LOVE IT.

I do have a question.  The Festool vac is not in my future for another few months.  I would however like to use my Shop vac.  I have 2  One 5 HP and one 6 HP  the 5 HP has 1/1/4 hose  the other is the 2.5 hose I believe.  Will any of these two get the job done until I can afford the Festool vac?

Any tips on hoses etc?

This is all so new to me really

Welcome.

You got a great saw.
Either vac should work fine. The 1 1/4" hose would work best. You may have to come up with some type of adapter to connect the hose to the saw.

You will love the saw.  There are a couple things you can do.  Go to lowes and get an adapter and use your shop vac (just cut off the sections you don't need.  I use this to connect my kapex to my shopvac.    If you want a smaller hose, you can get the portercable accessory hose for their rourters.  It will slide right inside the adapter.

see you love it!  that is how I started with festool 8-9 years ago with the atf 55 or aft (whatever)  and it worked so well I have invested 22 gran now in festools.  but it has made me that back several times over in just time savings... plus better made projects etc...

so is has been worth every penny.  and I have gone through more of bosch, dewalt, milwaukee, makita, porter cable tools and nothing comes close to festool over all for quality tools and customer service.

when you get the vac, get the ct22 if you can or the midi and it will work great as you expand you tool lineup!~

do you do this professionaly or diy?

I do it pro as well as a hobby...Yea, I'm sick.  Already have the sander added and am looking at the 1010 router with the 32mm system.  MAn, that would save me some time for sure.

Me it started with the original domino when it came out on woodcraft.com At that time, it was permitted to import Festool to Canada directly from dealers in the USA. It was followed by a CT22, an ETS sander, guide rails, TS55, 2 MFTs.... well you got the picture. I 'love' all my festool tools. I also have a Bosch miter saw that does a great work especially if fitted with 100$ Freud blades..... 3 Bosch routers.. 2 Bosch sanders... Everything is well built.... I don't even look at any other brands these days...
