Kapex and fastcap best fence

Fastcap sent me out a bestfence to try out.  When I got it I wasn't really impressed with the way it attaches to the saw and the saw stand, and there was no way I was drilling into my kapex.  The ug cart has been amazing but the extensions are short and narrow and sometimes I would like more support.  This weekend I made my own adapter for the best fence and my kapex, I'm really liking the wider extensions.  I will be doing a video review on the stand pointing out some concerns I have with it, I would like to get some more time working with the stand first.  By no means is this stand as convenient as the ug stand but when you need that larger work area this might be the answer.  Here are some pics..

Hi Dave - what exactly is a Festool dealer affiliate?

Hadn't seen that designation before...

It means he has a Festool dealer sponsoring him.

Sean makes him wear pajamas with a big green 'F' on the chest and be on call 24 hours for emergency videos.

Actually Ken, that's incorrect.  I'd rather you not distribute false truths.

As an affiliate of The Tool Nut & Festoolproducts.com, Dave is required, at all times, to wear a "Hello, my name is..." tag notifying all around him that he is ready, willing and available to any current or prospective customers for questions of any type.  It's taken a toll on Dave, and he apparently is not sleeping or eating.  I think the latter has helped his image (he's a bit more svelte in the latest videos).

Ken, as stated above, please be sure you have your facts straight before posting.

The Dealer Affiliate designation means that a dealer is sponsoring to some degree, as Brice said. It does not necessarily mean that the affiliate is getting paid or receiving oodles of of free stuff. But does indicate that some items might have been provided by a particular dealer for review, demonstration, etc. at no charge, and or that a particular dealer is featured/ promoted in pics, reviews or videos.

Basically a method of full disclosure.

Dave,

How strong is the plywood connection on the adapter? Would it be good to make the plywood longer for more strength and ridgidity?

When  I first saw pics of the Fastcap stand  wondered about the tripod legs getting tripped over, what do you think?

Oh, and, show us more about the stand , stops etc please  [smile]

Seth

The plywood is very rigid and seems to offer enough support. I just quickly made this up to use the extensions, something else is already in the works to attach the extensions to the kapex.

I really wasn't happy with the tripod stand, it's big and not as easy as the ug cart. As for the stops they seem to work well, they just look very clunky. I'm still playing with everything and testing it all out. I will be doing a video on the stand itself as well as my version soon.

Dave,

Could you show  how that plywood attached to the Kapex crown extension underneath?

Seth

Sorry I missed this thread Seth.

I don't have this setup anymore since fastcap came out with brackets for the kapex. All I used was a flat head screw and a nut and washer from beneath. I'll see if I can dig up a picture from my custom kapex extensions, similar style.

I attached the ply the same way as I did the steel plates.

Dave, did you use the best fence rails with the new kapex adapters they have.  If so what do you think.  I think I would like there rails, but I would like to be able to use them with the festool crown stop extensions.  Do you know of a way to adapt these two pieces??
Thanks
