I'm going to be getting a kapex soon , I don't like the festool stand or fence system so I was looking for another stand and spotted the dewalt at HD . Anyone using that base or some other mobile stand ?  I like the Fastcap Best Fence and most likely I'll be getting that fence system , the mobile stand from them is nice but it would take up to much room in my truck .

Thanks
Jerry

i use the big dewalt stand now with a makita saw. i am going to get the small dewalt without outfeed supports and just make my own wings. you can't beat wings vs those flimsy supports. for reference, i do my work onsight not in a shop.

Hi Jerry,
I use the dewalt mitre saw stand (DW723). I have it pictured below in my garage but it is used for on site work mainly. It is the best of a bad bunch. The material support brackets are poorly designed and flex under any sort of load which makes them poor for cutting studs to length. I mainly do framing and make a temp. bench on site. I am surprised that no one has invented a good one! There are other ones of course that have rollers and sturdy frames but they way a heap and you soon get sick of lugging those to and from site every day. The UG stand with a pair of wings that extend would be great. I am looking at making one. Dave Reinhold has posted a video with the kapex mounted on the MF/T3 stand. I have attached the link below

Saw that Best Fence put together at JLC, it's very well built. The extrusions are best I have seen. I personally like the UG stand because of the fold up, but not the Festool extensions. I made my own using the crown extensions from Festool, it was fairly easy.

I currently use it all on a Ryobi stand which has a similar form factor to the Dewalt, but the Ryobi is heavier. It's a good set up, which is why I haven't moved to something else. If you went with the Dewalt you obviously don't get the mobility factor of the UG, but it would be a solid set up with that Best Fence retrofitted into it.

Almost all the choices available are a series of compromises in reality. I personally love my custom wings since they are deeper, made of wood and I can actually do work on them. For me Miter saw stand nirvana is the UG stand, with my own wings and some upper hands for support. It's all about reducing the breakdown/set up points if you can.

We use the DeWalt stand for our Kapex. We cut a piece of 3/4" ply, about 20x30, mounted that to the DeWalt clamps, and he Kapex to the ply. Works like a champ. Never a single issue or any weakness in support. I would have no problems recommending this setup to anyone if that's what they had available.

I have the original version of the Dewalt miter saw stand with two extension wings.  It's based on the TracRac system for truck lumber racks.  Similar models are still available from Bosch and Hitachi.  I've used it for fifteen years and still love it.

Well I got my kapex and decided on the RIDGID Mobile Miter Saw Stand . Very happy with the stand , it's heavy duty and works great . It rolls smoothly over grass and stone . I'll take some pics of the setup and post them .

I bought the best fence V2 a while back The system works great . I had been using the Ridgid UV stand for my Dewalt and I liked it. So I did a little experimenting and this is what came I up with. A Ridgid Fast Fence Stand. Since I had the Ridgid stand and the Fast Fence material supports. It is a little easier to get around for smaller jobs But the V2 is a very sturdy unit.

Hey Tony

I like that idea of using the Ridgid fence supports , I"ll have to see if I can fit them to my Ridgid stand . How was it to make that ZCI for the saw ?

Thanks
Jerry

BTW I see your not to far from me .

I had some 1/2"X 2" oak flooring left over. I don't have a surface Planer so ran it thru my table saw on edge and dressed it up with a belt sander Made enough for a couple of them In case I forget and bevel the saw. I live about 20 Miles west of the City. But born and raised in West Philly. I always liked that model saw stand because the  support legs go to the ground.

Matt I think they would hold up real good. Really a nice job. I have a set up for rough work and it does not include the kapex It is a 100# cast iron Craftsman slider. At 70 YO I don't even look at it anymore.

Hey Matt
Thats a nice setup you have .  I got the Ridgid MS-UV stand and I'm super happy with it .
