Kapex Angle Change Issue…

I have a KS 120 EB. I’ve had it for years and always keep the table in the 0 degree position for 90* crosscuts. Yesterday I tried moving the table to an 8* cut and the table won’t budge. I push down on the handle, push down on the thumb lever, but it’s stuck. I even tried pulling the handle up, but that won’t work either. What am I doing wrong???

[member=44099]Cheese[/member] please.

Also, to release the lock, lift it up, not push it down.

Ok…just figured out its handle up, so it does move, however it’s still very difficult to turn the table. So how do I free it up a bit?

No Cheese waiting necessary... (No offense intended to the Cheesinator or to you, Chuck...)

That's the specific post, but the entire thread is full of goodies.

Hope it helps!

Good job [member=75217]squall_line[/member] now I can get back to cooking scallops with lemon risotto. I need to cook this dish more often.  [smile]

Thanks [member=57948]ChuckS[/member] ...I spent the entire afternoon working in the garage and it was cathartic. What a wonderful space to create future items/projects/or just to contribute to future humanitarian/local/civil projects.

So I’ve loosened the adjusting nut. Thing is, movement of the table only loosens up if the nut is finger tight. Any tighter and it goes right back to very difficult to move the table.  Now what?

In the absence of a video showing the movement of the turntable, it is possible that what you describe as very difficult is in fact normal, that's normal by the standard of a Kapex. The REB turntable, of the one I tried at a showroom, was pretty easy to move.

My worry is that if the saw is sent to Festool for a look, it might come back the same after the "fix." Is it possible to shoot a short clip, say 10 seconds long or less, of the problem?

Chuck, at this point I can accept the effort to turn the table. Thing is, if I tighten the nut any more than finger tight, the table becomes extremely difficult to turn. What explains that?

Just fyi, I called Festool and they simply told me to send it in for repair. That’s not going to happen.

This does not surprise me.

There is no way for them to diagnose this over the phone, and even if they offered advice, what if it was wrong or you broke something in the process of "fixing" it?
