ive been fitting skirting boards today. 7 inch pine ovolo skirtings to be exact. normal straight 90 degree cuts are ok. but as it was big 7 inch skirts i was having to lay them flat to cut the mitres. this was causing the saw to struggle somewhat. lots of smoke. lots of burning.
now ive known a fair few joiners to have said theyve never had to get their mitre saw blade sharpened. however on my previous mitre saw i often got the blade sharpened for pretty much this exact reason.
i did a approx 20 sq meter solid oak floor a little while back and used my kapex for cutting the boards there. so i wonder if the blade is a little dull. (kapex is 6 months old but not used every day)
so could the blade be needing a sharpen up? its the standard blade. do you guys use a lower tooth count blade for skirtings? ive fitted a lot of mdf skirtings recently. would mdf cause the blade to dull quite quickly?
