Hey All,

Looking at the Kapex saw as mostly a stationary shop tool. I want to mount a Compound miter saw against a wall with a fence. The Bosch 12" I have right now looks like that bench is going to need to be about 27 inches deep the way the slider works.

I see the specs on the Kapex is less than 20" how much room behind that is needed? What kind of depth is required for the Kapex if used along the wall?

Thank you

Unlike most others saws, the kapex uses a forward facing rail design.  Instead of the rails sliding with the head fixed to the front, the head slides along fixed rails.

You can basically set the saw against your back wall and leave it there.  No extra space needed.

I hope I am understanding your question correctly.  If you need more info just let me know.

The Kapex can be pushed flat against a wall but you will not be able to rotate it for mitre work. You need to allow a couple of cms for that and about 77cms more for the full depth to the front of the mitre lock.

I hope that I have attached the right picture...

Gentleman,

Thank you for the quick replies. I was out in the shop just now and measured the Bosch. For it to be on the bench, and use the miter function the front feet would be 32 inches from the wall. I don't really have that space to make it a bench tool. I was hoping for more like a 18-19" top with rails to cut on.

Appreciate the information on the Kapex looks like it would be the right tool.

Have to put my other 2 compound miter saws on craigslist I imagine.

Thanks again

Phil
