Kapex Fence Warped

Checking out my new Kapex, I see that the right upper fence piece is rather warped out of shape. The inner 3" curves back about 1/16" out of line with the remainder. While not perfect, both the left upper fence and the lower fence seem to be good enough, so it is just in this upper right fence piece that is really bad. I don't think a sacrificial fence will mount to this portion without a lot of fiddling.

So, is this the same type warpage that has been reported with this saw? Guess I'll be calling Festool service to discuss this tomorrow. I'll be wanting to know if I can just get another upper right fence to replace the warped one that came with my saw, rather than have to send the entire saw back.

Corwin,

Old buddy - talking to Festool will be the best route.  My guess is that they will send the parts versus sending the saw back.

First off, I apologize for the warped fence. Obviously, that's not up to par and an inconvenience that you shouldn't have to deal with.

I'll send you a PM in a few minutes about getting this handled.

Thanks for your replies. This does look to be a much, much nicer saw than others I had considered, so I do hope that this little issue can be corrected. Otherwise, I am very happy with this saw. Even my wife noted that it looks to be a quality saw, and was pleased with the purchase -- not that she has any say about it...  [blink] [cool]

I finally had a chance to fire it up for the first time today. This is my first 'slider' -- I've only had radial arm saws or simple miter saws before, so I'm very excited to work with this new saw. It sure slides nice and smooth, and everything feels so nice. Once the fence issue is resolved, I will need to make some minor adjustments to dial it all in, but I get the feeling that I'm going to love this saw.  [big grin]
