Does anyone use the silver non anti static hose with their kapex ? I'm getting a kapex and want to use it with my midi . The green 36mm hose sounds very expensive so thought of just using the cheaper one

I don't have the silver festool hose but have a non-anti stat Fein hose. I've tried the non-anti hose with the Kapex. There does seem to be a difference when doing a LOT of cutting continuously. For cuts here and there, it doesn't seem to matter. Also seems to depend on what I'm cutting and weather conditions.
However, the bigger issue from my experience is hose size. When I got the Kapex I didn't buy the large hose since I already had at least 2-3 of the smaller hoses. Why bother right? DC is noticeably better with the large hose. Even though I dislike the idea of paying that much money for a stupid plastic hose, when DC is important and I'm doing a lot of cutting the big hose is worth it.
As far as the midi, I don't know. Got a couple 22's, a 26 and a Fein.

I've used the 3.5m x 36mm non-antistatic hose with my Kapex. It worked just fine. I didn't have issues with static build up except when it was real dry and then some dust stuck on the outside of the hose.

From what I've experienced having been two years in Holland, it would never be an issue. I expect your island is similar.

Size does madder, the D36 hose give you the flow needed the non Festool  solution Rigid VT2570, 36 mm hose that fits the Midi and added the festool hose sleeve for D36 for a perfect fit on the Kapex. Cut it down to size and have a great solution for $55.

I don't have a Kapex, but I've used the 36 mm non-as hose with the TS55, EHL 65 and my DW router, and never experienced any static problem. The Y-splitter hose for the CS70 is of the same material, and I've used it many times already, again without any notion of static. Festool didn't even bother to make an AS Y-splitter for the CS70, so I don't think they think it's an issue with stationary saws.

And Tom might have a valid point, when you live in such a moist sea climate as we do here in Holland and England, static is less of a problem anyway.

Hi Chris,

I got this Cleaning Set which comes with the silver 36mm hose, it is much more flexible and I use it with my Kapex and CT26 with great results. I haven't cut its length down works just fine, I use it with the of2200 and ts55r also works much better then the 27mm hose that comes with the vac. had no static issues.

I go the set from powertool supplies but they don't seem to list it anymore? was about £80

Regards
Leigh

Yeah I don't doubt the bigger hose is better that's not what I'm asking. I just wondered if you really need the anti static one.

I got the festool guy at a tool show to actually cut on the kapex with both hose 27 and 36 . The difference in dust collection is big.

I should've ordered it with the kapex. I just ordered the full kapex set from nuts & bolts, coming tomorrow. :)

They are great at nuts and bolts! Charlie was really helpful over the phone.

Ordered the CMS and router module on Friday will receive in the new year.

Enjoy your Kapex!! had mine with Ug-Set Since August, great saw [big grin]

The grey one it is then :) cheers guys.

Matt dealt with me ,great service so far. I've used them once before for a cxs and sys mft.

The weather conditions in my area of Southern California causes static to be a serious problem. Therefore I only use Festool AS hose for all purposes.

My experience is that the shortest length of 36mm AS hose works best with the Kapex. Therefore I purchase the 36mm x 7m AS hose, divide it into 3 equal lengths and add the appropriate connectors, so I get hoses for three Kapex. The good thing is I do not need to buy new connectors each hose swap. Even the tool end lasts for years.

THREE I just about scraped the money together for one kapex let alone three :-)

In addition to me, I employ 6 master cabinet makers full time plus as many additional woodworkers as needed so, it takes quite a few Kapex. The idea is I do not want any employee waiting to use a needed tool. Also by having extra Kapex (as well as other vital Festools) preventive maintenance can be done during the day. I the old days someone had to come in during the night to maintain the tools.

Keep us posted. I need a 36mm too for Kapex, especially if the difference is as big as you say it is.

Cheers

I bought an 1-1/2" shop vac hose off ebay for $20. Non anti static and it works perfect with my Kapex and midi. Also bought one at Menards for $30 that works too. The end is soft rubber and fits around the kapex outlet snuggly.
