Has anyone else experienced the stiffness in the miter adjustment?  I only played with it for a short time tonight, maybe I'm doing something wrong.  I have not tried the bevel adjustment yet.

Don,

There are two issues with the Kapex.  When they were first announced, some had a turntables that scraped.    turntable is a bit stiffer than other miter saws.    AFAIK, that has been resolved through a redesign of three turntable components.

The second issue is turntable "sticktion".  Once it is moving the turntable swings smoothly, but at the start or end it tends to be a bit sticky.  It bothers some folks, but doesn't bother me.  I covered the sticktion issue in this video: Festool Kapex Turntable Sticktion

One tip...  When moving the turntable, make sure that you press down firmly on the thumb lever.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Dan.

Dan,

Great video.  I know it will help many of us.

Is that really you in the  video or did you have stand-in?

Pull up harder on the miter lock.

See if that helps, if it does, we can keep it a secret.

You were correct it was operator error.

Thanks Again

Neill,

I tried to find a stand-in, but no one met my high standards for good looks and awesome speaking ability.  ::)  Ahem...  Unfortunately, that's really me.  [eek]

Well done video Dan,Spike from JLC.
The Kapex is what it is. It's a space saving, quiet, light, easy to use  and relatively dust free saw that cuts accurately once set up correctly. I have a slew of saws and like each of them for their own inherent design features and hate each of them for what they lack.

Mine clicks no matter how hard you press. Sigh.... Given the mfg date of 08/09.. I figured that mean August 09 but probably it means September 08 and I need to call and get it fixed.. It really is "what it is"
