First, my apologies if this is under the wrong discussion heading!

So, the fridgid cold of New England wreaked havoc on the brittle plastic of my KA-UG carrier. I set it down, it rolled to one side and cracked...I picked it up and both ends fell apart. It felt like slow motion from The Matrix movie but I somehow managed to catch the UG arms before the hit the ground.

Anyway on to my resolution!

I had some 5/8" Baltic Birch in the shop and built these two box ends that fit the UG arms perfectly. I dadoed the top, back & bottom to create a "track" for the strap. The top and bottom are removable in case they ever need to be disassembled or replaced. They're not the prettiest, but I needed to quickly get back up and running!  If this has happened to you, maybe it'll light a fire for you!  Enjoy!

i dont use mine, wayy to fiddely to keep putting on and off everyday

I know what you mean. The only way to keep them from getting all banged up in my truck is to have some sort of holders so I have to make due!

I find them fiddley too. I plan to make a box of some type.... better protection and more stackable.

I have a love/hate thing going on with mine.   [unsure]

When I orientate them right the first time and cinch the strap tight cleanly, I think I'm a bad *#%  Install Technician. Then I try to slide them in next to the saw on the cart and start walking.  They never seem to be sitting in securely next to the miter handle. So I'll flip them around again, start walking and looking back just in time to catch them from sliding out.  So I learned they need to be handled separately.  Tried to find a pic of the ext. in the cart and no luck.  I know they are built to slide in on the one tube.

Maybe the best approach would be a piece of ABS or PVC pipe with end caps and a shoulder strap?

I also need a nylon strap extention on the handle, maybe a foot or so.   [mad]

I also struggled with this until I realized that I could put the extensions on the cart like normal, and then use the clamp on the Kapex to clamp the nylon strapping to the saw. Works like a charm and my extensions don't slide off.

Edited to fix an auto-correct on "Kapex".

Awesome idea!!  Would love a pick of the inside if you have it.  Also, is that a Racktainer under the blue Systainer?

I'll snag a pic when I drag them out later & yes that's a racktainer ! ;)

Putting this on my shop dry erase board.  Next to the tools for repair, blades to be sharpened and the stuff to sell.

My build would have a hole for a hook or nail on one end and a Destato style clamp on the other side to lock against the truck or van wall..... [scratch chin]
