a few months ago i bought the apex and it had so many issues my local woodcraft swapped it out for me. However the ne Kapex is starting to have many issues as well.
-The bevel tilt does not move smoothly anymore it binds in many positions.
-While using the saw The plastic guard by the back of the blade shattered and was thrown all around.
-The spring that brings the saw back up after a cut does not lift the saw anymore
-The laser is inaccurate (however i haven't tried fixing it yet i just don't use it)
- The saw speed doesn't seem reliable and will noticeably fluctuate even before the blade meets the wood
I store the saw in my van protected from anything bumping into it at all and has never been dropped or hit by timbers. the saw looks brand new other than the defects listed above.
I use the saw mostly for cutting MDF baseboards/Casing but also finger jointed pine and other regular trim materials poplard, oak etc... and occasionally some 2x4s for small framing jobs.
I can't imagine any of that causing these problems. also the saw is only operated in conjunction with the dust extractor.
I have been incredibly impressed with all of festools products which is why i didn't look twice at the price tag however i'm not getting near the value paid for this saw. I hope this was just a problem with a production run or something similar.
Any advice would be appreciated thank you!
