Kapex to 4 inch dust collector hose.

What adapters do I need to connext my Kapex with my 4 inch "house" dust collection system.

Suggestions on how to do this most effectively are most welcome.

I had not seen the Universal Adapter before you mention. Really interesting approach.  I would have thought this would have been a 3D printed adapter..

I did 3D print mine with the included SCAD file below. Simply define your sizes and you're good to go.

The file works with the free program openSCAD.

I would be careful - especially if you have a dust "Collector" they run on airflow and necking them down to 2 1/2" kills the airflow and performance.

I do this same thing on one tool (spindle sander) and had to use a 4" to twin 2 1/2" outlets (Y connecter) and use the second one as a "Hood" to help airflow - and it made everything better.

When I owned a miter saw I  had much more success collecting dust with a large shroud and a vacuum rather than my dust collector. To some degree, it depends on the dust collector and vacs you own. If you own a CT, though, I suggest connecting the 50mm hose connection that Festool sells (same as with the Boom Arm for connection between the hose on the arm and the vacuum). There is a lot of suction from the CT. Dust collectors tend to produce a lot of air movement but, for some tools, they are not necessarily the best method for collection at the source. I wish I had owned a CT when I owned my miter saw. The Kapex/CT combo would be hard to beat. Sorry if you've already tried the Festool hose and a CT and aren't satisfied.

I would create a fitting that would NOT (significantly) reduce the tubing cross section, but would instead take air also from behind the saw - to take advantage of the additional air volume available.

I guess a short one meter D50 hose attached to one side of a wooden board with the other side having the DC tube attached attached additional holes around it still additional air will be pulled from behind the saw.

Definitely would not "just use a reduction" as already mentioned.

That said, just putting a dedicated CT 15 below the Kapex sounds like a much better strategy to me. Potentially coupled with a DE inlet behind the saw still.

If a lot of cutting is made, the best deal is to use whatever extractor or just a shop vac (fitted with a hepa filter) in conjunction with a Dust Deputy.

Yes, the Kapex is not perfect in dust collection, but with such a setup, my air quality monitor says I don't need to wear an N95 mask even after over an hour of continuous sawing (mine is a shop vac + HEPA):
