Hello,

Today I purchased the Kapex UG cart with extension wings.  Seems like a reasonable stand.

I don't use my Kapex in the field all that much.  However, I wanted the extension wings for repeatable cuts.

Wondering if the Kapex MFT with extension wings would be a better option for me.

Thoughts on one over the other ?

Thanks.

I have the UG cart, but 98% of my work is mobile.

I guess if you have no concerns about additional footprint, I could see how an MFT may be more stable, give you a place to park things (tape measure, pencil, square...), possibly give you options to clamp jigs.

When I work from home, my shop is my garage and I cannot leave my tools set up and still park inside at night, so I would likely still opt for the UG.

I have the MFT Kapex with the wings and I do use the additional surface all the time to hold things.

Connecting the wings to the Kapex is a bit of a pain due to the close quarters between the clamping knob of the the wing and MFT top. I’d assume the cart would be much more accessible. I’d also enjoy the mobility of the cart.

I find I have very little adjustability to level the wings when using them with the MFT Kapex. The wings do have plenty of adjustability, but I’m typically near the end of travel before the wings are level. I have, however, always been able to level the wings to the Kapex.

Good luck with whichever direction you proceed.

I don’t move mine much but just leave it on the cart. The kapex mft has been folded up and in way for over a year. I occasionally ponder selling it but never get around to it.

I have the UG cart and wings and love the setup.  It's great in the shop if you have the room and if you ever take your Kapex to a jobsite it is indispensable.

I picked a UG on Craigslist for $500.00 with both wings and all the gadgets and it is a very good saw stand IMO. If you are mobile, the wheels combined with the wing storage is the bees' knees. Especially when you run into stairs and have no help.

But, there is absolutely no place to set anything (like cutoffs, clamps, tape measure, pencil). If there was a small shelf underneath the Kapex UG it would be much more useful.

From this experience I might think that the MFT setup will allow you to pile things around the saw while working and be more convenient.

If you have a regular MFT or other table close to a UG, then the lack of storage wouldn't be such a downside.
