Kapex Warning

I was experiencing a decrease in the dust collection on my Kapex which has a dedicated Mini vac.

I removed the blade to see if there was an obstruction. There wasn't. Although the Mini suction seemed strong, I checked the bag. It was about 3/4 full. I changed it and the suction was very much stronger.

I needed to make a crosscut using the Kapex and decided to use the lasers. They were way off and didn't look normal in the least.

I finally saw the blade was crooked. I had not correctly seated the blade when I reinstalled it. I corrected the error and all is back to normal.

I am extremely lucky I didn't start the saw. It could have damaged the saw housing or worse.

The bottom line for me is to verify I have the blade seated correctly after taking it off.

The dust collection is back to normal.

Thanks Birdhunter for sharing this warning.  It's a good lesson for all.  I will remember to check the blade seating each time I change my Kapex blade - or any other blade!

When I was an apprentice it was drilled into me to spin the blade or cutter head at least 2 revolutions to make sure everything was ok. I've never lost the habit and it's saved me a couple of times.

I did the same thing the first time I had removed my blade.  I will not forget that one.

Have you ever tried to spin the kapex blade it doesn't spin easily it feels like your about to break it

Cheers

Bryan
