Kapex Wings, Fast cap or Multi blade

I want to make my own set of wings for the apex as the crown wings I did not care for. For those who bought the Fast cap or Multi blade saw helper ones. Which is the better way to go? I would want to get the set the lets me have the thicker top bolted to it. Thanks for any help.

I used the Fastcap wings for mine. The tops are 3/4” birch with routed rebates for the wing.  I then drilled the top & Fastcap connectors for thin all thread rod to hold it together. Downside, the Fastcap wings are all plastic, with a metal bolt on the clamp (but I think they cost $25 each). Upside, Fastcap phoned me when I ordered, to confirm  I understood what I was getting, and kindly sent a (free) drill bit for their retaining pin.

Thanks for the pictures. What is the cable coming out of the block? Also how much did you have to remove to have the wing be level?

The Fastcap wing uses a pin to hold the plastic connector to Fastcap's aluminum wing. In my case I used all thread rod to semi-permantly fasten the connector to my plywood wing, so the pin is just dangling loose. I routed roughly 9/16" off the bottom. The Fastcap has (roughly) a 1/4" deep shelf the wing rests on. So you need a 1/4" above the connector to make the top flush to the Kapex table.

I used the Multi Blade and I was very impressed with the quality. I didn't make a back fence but I still may add one.

This morning I took a couple more pictures of how the Multi blade bracket is attached in case anyone was interested. I just snuck up on the dado relief until the top was perfectly level with the base of the Kapex.

Nice work. The Multi blade connector looks much more solid than the Fastcap.

Thanks so much for the replys and pictures. I'm going to order a set of the multiblade UG as they will require not routing with 3/4 ply just a spacer to bring it up to the correct level. Will post when done.

Drich,  Just to be clear you will have to rout approximately .135 off of 3/4 ply in order for your ply to be level with the Kapex base..  If you don't the ply will be higher than the base. Very easy task with a router or you can even use the Kapex if so inclined. I've included another pic to hopefully make it more clear. I think you will appreciate the quality of the Multi blade brackets. Happy New Year and have fun.

If you already have the crown wings, they can be used for extension wing mounts and they're better than the other options.  Plus they will still incorporate the option of a solid crown stop.  Here's some pics of my setup...

Had to countersink the existing holes

1/4" plate for wing attachment

Used 1/8" plate to shim the 1/2" ply to the level of the Kapex table.
