Hi guys, been lookin through the FOG on and off for a couple of years now but thought it was about time to actually register. I've owned various festools for the past 5 years but finally bit the bullet and got a kapex 120. I want to make some homemade wings for it including a precision fence. What options have I got apart from the kreg here in the uk?  Or even options on buying track, stops etc separately so I can build it to my needs?

Why not buy the festool wings ? I bought a kapex at Christmas and got the ug set with both wings. They're excellent.

Hi Wintoh,

First, let's get the customary [welcome] out of the way!

I have the Kapex and the UG extension arms, but bought the latter to use for multiple purposes (infeed and outfeed on CMS, MFT/3 etc.) and not primarily as dedicated fences for the Kapex in my single-car garage workshop. For that purpose (and for fences on a number of other things like my drill press) I have bought some Incra Track with metric racks and the metric Incra Shop Stop.

There are some UK suppliers, but I found it cheaper to buy via Dieter Schmid's Fine Tools in Germany.

The Incra Tracks come with Imperial racks by default, so you'll also need to buy the metric racks; they're an easy swap over.

If you take a look at the site, you can get a good idea of how it can be used.

There are some FOG posts that might give you other ideas about just how useful the Tracks and Stop can be too. Parallel Guides anyone? http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-jigs-tool-enhancements/parallel-guides-with-incra-stop-shop/

[big grin]

If on the other hand you are intending to move your "wings" around though rather than them being fairly static in a workshop, you can't go far wrong with the UG Arms.
