Was the Kapex released in Europe this week?
If so, has anyone got one yet?, what are your thoughts on the saw?

Cheers

Paul

i've had the kapex for two weeks now--i'm still finding job's for it to do [as with any new toy]-----i find it lighter and much better for transporting about, there's very little dust ejected when used with my c22 ,infact a big plus as i will now do my cut's indoors [customers house].all my test cuts were easy and perfect.i,ve yet to try it on a full skirting/architrave job,the clamp is excellant, can,t fault the kapex so far---my cms is collecting dust just now---

a few very useful features i value -cable tidy--rounded corners on machine corners which helps whilst moving in confined area's--accurate twin lazer--a big plus over other machines is the kapex can be operated right up against a back wall as she slides forward ideal for working in confined areas--four rubber feet keep the kapex from sliding on van/work bench--mitre finder is saving me time and mistakes as i'm no master carpenter------i paid over£800 for the basic set [owch] still i'm well happy with the kapex and she will earn her keep---------
NB only availible 240volt in uk just now june 2007--
picture of my very first cuts basic mdf-choped in childest haste

daviesgadget,
Hey, for those of us who have no access to the Kapex, how about some photos!  We want to see it.
Even better, some action photos.
Matthew

daviesgadget, I have a question, dose the Kapex come with a bag to collect dust when not hooked up to a vacuum? I too would like to see some pictures.

DaviesGadget,

As the local Picture Cop, I have to remind you of our key rules at FOG:

1) No pics?  Didn't happen!
2) Any questions, see Rule #1!

We want pics!  We want pics!  We want...  ;D

Regards,

Dan.

No it does not come with a bag. Get real, what do you expect for $1600?  ;D

I notice that the Kapex price in th UK has been dropped! Is this just a special or is it a new price? ?785.00 inc VAt (17.5%)

Could be good news? not sure.

Paul

The UK recommended retail price of the Kapex is ?836 plus 17.5% VAT ( ?982)

However most Festool dealers apply a 20% discount which brings the price down to ?669 which, when VAT is added, brings the price down (!) to ?786 or $1571

This pointless exercise is rather annoying as no one in their right mind would pay list price. It is rumoured that Festool UK get very cross with dealers who discount more than 20%. Which is what they did in Australia where the Festool importers were recently fined for illegal retail price maintenance practices by operating a price cartel.

At the same time they were fined for the Soprano like persuassive powers of two (now former) Tooltechnic (Festool Australia) sales managers who, in the words of the Judge, "went too far in implementing new dealership agreements by attempting to discourage retailers from discounting from recommended prices."

The black and green Mafia? :o

Pat

Pat,

Here Stateside no Festools are available at any discount at all -- all are sold by all dealers for the uniform, published list price.

I might be willing to agree with you that there are no Yanks in their right mind, but that is for another thread.

And US courts recently upheld the validity and legality of retail price agreements, so it appears that Festool USA can do as it pleases.
