[scared] [scared] [scared]
After almost 4 years of abuse and I do mean abuse my c15 died today unfortunately Festool drills don't come with little parachutes ( maybe a future design thought) gravity can be a bitch

Does anyone know if I can buy another without the batteries, charger etc..... It landed on its head

How much of the drill is actually broken? Send it in for repair, maybe all it needs is a new shell. Unfortunately you can't buy a tool only version of the C15.

As suggested, it's fairly inexpensive to replace the plastic if that's all that's wrong with it.

It fell about 20 meters and exploded  [scared]
I couldn't find all the parts, oh we'll I needed a reason for a little spending spree

Exploded?  [blink] Ok, I agree, that's gonna need a bit more work.  [wink]

Lucky nobody was underneath. Don't you tether tools when you're working at that height?

Belt clip broke off battery  [scared]
I should never of trusted the clip, I was climbing across a scaffold when it got slightly snagged and down it went

Hopefully the PDC's belt clip is an improvement over the one built into the batteries on the C12/C15/T12/T15/T18. If I was CEO of Festool Germany I'd send you a new PDC to make up for the weak belt clips on these other drills. And as Kev said, thankfully no one was hurt. If someone was this would've been a PR disaster for Festool.

So what happens if the bosch weighs as much as a duck? :)

You need a Bosch Brute Tough Drill/Driver ! :)

So the weight of the  Bosch is a real problem for you?  ::)

But I can definitely tell you what happens with Festool - read post #8

Exactly, this belt clip on the Festool Drill/Drivers is completely garbage!!!

A belt clip on the Dewalt/Bosch,for example,a thousand times better!

You guys are right the clip is rubbish
Unfortunately for me I didn't think it would just go the way it did, it didn't get snagged that hard but maybe the stupid plastic part on the battery was already cracked  [mad]
I thought the clip would have been designed better, as the pictures above show both Bosch and dewalt seem to have trumped Festool  [poke]
maybe in the future Festool will realise we don't buy these tools, place them on a shelf and stare at them, we use them day in day out, they get dirty, dropped, scuffed, we pay a premium for quality tools because they're supposed to be better,

I have to now get a new one as it's my day to day drill and I can't be without it, but I can't buy just the drill I have to buy the whole setup  [mad]

It's not just Bosch and Dewalt that make decent belt clips, my Makita belt clip looks just as beefy as the Bosch pictured above. Even though I don't own a CXS, I would say the CXS' belt clip appears to be decent.

But I must admit that I do not trust my Festool T18 or C15 belt clips in the slightest. If I lent the tool to a friend I would probably remove these clips first just as a preventative measure. I would go so far as to say that these battery belt clips are a LIABILITY. It's even more shocking that the belt clip can be held on the drill with the plastic retainer clip flipped in the direction meant to release the belt clip. So even if this plastic clip doesn't break, the belt clip can slide off with any push that would move it to the point of release.

Granted I never read the manuals that came with my T18/C15, but hopefully there's a warning from Festool in there about this vulnerability.

What make Festool Drill so special?

I had Bosh Drill/Driver for over 11 years, sold it just because of the newer design and battery, but guy still use it,not a single problem, very, very tough drill.

Of course Makita also make decent belt clips,I just mention Bosch/Dewalt drill because they fit my hand most comfortable,Makita grip is to small for my hands, not so comfortable in use, just my IMHO.

But Festool belt clip is total joke.

What make Festool Drill so special?

It's only special as I use all the attachments all the time ( kitchen fitter )
I suppose streamlining your tools has a downside
