Knotty Pine

I'm not really sure where to put this but it seems like this might be the right place. I'm thinking of putting knotty pine on the currently open ceiling in my basement workshop. I've done enough drywall in my life and don't want to deal with the mess, not to mention it would be near impossible to empty the shop for the sanding.

I'd like the pine to stay light and natural without darkening or ambering. If I put a waterborne clear on it would it prevent it from darkening over time? There's no windows in that part of the basement so no sunlight, only my T8 led's.

I have pine on my shop ceiling as well. I left it unfinished and do not plan on finishing it at all. It depends on the look that one wants, but I prefer bare pine for something like shop walls and ceilings. This is a good time to runs lots of romex so you can have outlets in the ceiling.

I'm with Mike, bare wood is great for a shop.
A bonus is that it reduces changes in humidity in the shop.

The only downside IMO is that the surface gets dusty and actually produces dust over the decades as it oxidizes.

Thats what I have in my spray shop. I whitewashed it so it would be brighter but still knotty.

Cool, thank you. I think I'll wait till I get it on hand before deciding whether or not to apply a finish.
