$3 Solution... 5/16" thumbscrews from McMaster-Carr.

I cut them down to about 1 3/8" long and they require a dab of thread-lock to stay put.  The head diameter is ~3/4" (19mm) and a perfect easy slip fit into the 20mm holes.

I proposed this on another thread about six weeks ago and have been successfully using it ever since.  One handed, two-second clamp time.  No knobs to fiddle with, just drop it in the hole, push the thumbscrew shank against any side of the hole and squeeze the clamp handle.  I have not seen any damage to the table top or bottom.

Hello All,

It is my first post here.

I think it is a clever idea: very simple.

I have one other solution and it cost only $1: a screw and a 3/4" washer.

One thing: beware of the clamping force of the automaxx. I tried it on my budget folding bench and it almost splitted (not really but i dont have the words) the mdf at full force. It works with no problem at a lower force. I heard people had bented their MFT3 aluminium extrusion with an automaxx bench clamp..

thank you

Frederic
