Kreg Jig Toolboxx knockoff at HD

At the JLC show they had a Kreg Jig booth.  The show deal was the  Kreg master set, screw assortment, in a nice organizer box they call the "Toolboxx".  I have the original Kreg jig made out of aluminum.  I've always wanted to upgrade to the newer set with a vacuum attachment but mine still works fine.  I think the deal was $239.  Fair price but it came with many screw sizes that I'll never use and in a zinc finish which I've never seen.  Not that this was such a bad deal but I am a sucker at woodworking shows.  I always get sold on junk that I never use but at the time seems like a great idea.  I walk home with nothing and $3-400 lighter.  Anyhoo, I showed restraint this time (for the first time) and passed on it.
Glad I did because at a recent trip to HD, these boxes were set up as an impulse display by the registers.  I think they are identical to Kreg's Toolboxx but for the color.  And only $20.
It was great to get organized.  I had boxes of screws all over the place.  And now maybe I can find the master set used down the road. 
Just thought I'd pass this deal along to others.  It's a very nice box for short money.

That's awesome! I was always looking at the Toolboxx from Kreg, and really just thought about all the screws I would never use - just like you. When I get my own Kreg set (instead of using my dad's) I will have to get a tool box like that one.

They work great! I use one for all of my Pex fittings and supplies.

I  bought 20 of those boxes last times they has it on sales .The Husky one is smaller than the Kreg in height .[attachimg=#]

I have been using the HD boxes for a few years now with no issues at all. I am positive it is the same manufacturer for the Husky and for Kreg. The original Kreg package came in the shallower box which didn't have enough room for my clamps so I purchased the taller version from HD. I have 3 of the same boxes full of the bins and they are great for organizing screws and such. Only issue is they sure are heavy when full!! Highly recommended and cost $20-30 depending upon the style.

The hd box and the Kreg boxes are made by Keter, or at least copies of the multi- level boxes made by Keter.  The actual Keter branded boxes were sold at Lowes and also at Costco and Sams Club.  In fact, recently, Sams club had the smaller version with Festool green-colored insert trays.

Ive found the Home Depot versons to be of a lesser quality than the Keter branded box.  The reenforcement ribbings on the handle sides is not the same quanity and design, and I assume a lesser quality plastic.  I had bought one of the Home Depot versions and the plastic handle support broke before I had a chance to use it.

Ive had Keter branded versions for year, and they've held up well.  I've found them to be one of the very best ways to store and organize router bits by fitting chunks of rigid foam into the little boxes with holes drilled in the foam.

Jim, I have an older Kreg jig also. Had considered upgrading for the dust collection, instead I made my own shroud out of some Lexan I had laying around. I use a corded wood drill (High RPM) pluged into a CT. Works great.

Here's a few pics showing the multi-level boxes used for Router bits.  I use a large one for 1/2" bits and general router table accessories, and a smaller one for 1/4" bits, template guides , asst trim router accessories.

Tom, Great Idea!  I use a corded drill too.  And plugging it into a CT is another good reason to use one.  How do you attach the Lexan to the jig?  Thanks for posting

Jim,

Take another look at the pictures, you will see 1 screw on each side that holds the shroud to the jig. Just drill and tap the jig. I would have glued the pieces of the shroud together, but I was out of glue for Lexan, thus the screws in the shroud.
