Kreg K5 Dust Collection Fix

I picked up the Kreg K5 a few weeks ago as an upgrade to my old Kreg jig. I love front mount lever system. I was not impressed with the dust port. For 1, the 36mm or 27mm Festool hoses did not fit, plus it just snapped out of place when I tried to make an adapter for it.

The solution: I found a link to this design and printed it out on my works 3D printer. The material is ABS and it fits very well. No movement. Dust collection is fantastic and both the 36mm and 27mm hoses both fit! Its not blue but I don't care.

Another good fix is to use the Leigh Jigs P/N 5040 Small Hose Adapter (comes with the VRS).  It slips right into the stock Kreg dust hood and will take the 27mm hose inside and the 36mm hose outside.  If needed, you can cut off the smallest step of the adapter and it will still fit perfectly.

I received mine from Derek yesterday. It survived its journey across the pond and arrived quicker than I expected.

It's the first time I have seen/felt something (in the hand, seen youtube vids) that has been 3D printed and I am very impressed,

I've purchased several Fein adaptors to put on the end of the festool hose.  they taper to several sizes and I just trim them to fit whichever tool needs the adapter.  I use them for all kinds of brushes, nozzles etc...

I have sent out a few of these and all positive reviews. Maybe I should send one to Kreg for them to review...

I do not have any more right now. Next time I have access to the 3D printer, I will print a few more.

Just picked up a Shop-Vac adapter set (part 80117) from Lowe’s (83589) for ~$8. One coupler of the three converts from the Kreg K5 dust port to Festool 27mm.

I Have Kreg Pocket JIG HD which I don not use with a K4 or K5.

I have been hoping some one would make a direct mount vacuum attachment for it.

The Bosch VAC003 adapter is a 1 1/4" to 27mm hose end that works perfectly with the Kreg jig. It's around $5 on Amazon.

Yep! Definitely have a couple of those around the shop. Good cheap option.

Looks really good. I found that a 1-1/4" p-trap works very good also.
