The drill guide in the pictures is a General Tools (not General of Canada) Accudrill precision drill guide. I bought this device years ago before I had a drill press or even a workshop.  It sill has its role in my work shop.

I have one and they are great! I changed the chuck to a key-less chuck. I was wondering (curious) when I saw your set up for the pull out why you didn't use the Accudrill drill guide.

I like the idea of a keyless chuck in  the drill guide.

I didn't use the General drill guide to drill the holes for the valet rods because my bit doesn't fit. 

The Rev-a-shelf valet rod requires an almost 7" deep hole.


My long 1/2" dia drill bit measures 10" in length, which is too long for the General drill guide.


Instead I cut a small block of maple (hate to use maple for jigs) and drilled a 1/2" dia hole through it on the drill press.  I screwed the block to a piece of plywood for clamping.  The jig centers the hole over the width of the face frame.

Im an Audio Video Installer and can appreciate all the electrical work you did. Those shelf's are amazing.. Also as a hobbyist wood worker and a part time carpenter when needed on my AV job sites i can also appreciate this closet. Absolutely incredible!

I hope you charged accordingly for such a phenomenal closet. We all can appreciate your hard work, very rarely does the client understand just how much work and effort goes into these types of projects!

Im sure she is thrilled with the closet, im sure you will have many more closet projects like that...that is if she shows her friends!  [wink]

Wow - that is really beautiful work.  I've seen a lot of nice cabinetry but all of the "extra" things like low voltage wiring are simply amazing.  Like others said - I hope you were well compensated.

A few updates. 

I moved the pictures to a new host since the old host went kaput. 

The Graco airless sprayer that I originally used also went kaput (pump motor died).  I've switched to Fuji HVLP. 

Also the Milwaukee drill shown in the thread was sold after a battery died.  I've replaced the drill with one from Festool.
