large base for OF 1400 router

Greetings folks. I want to make tray with a bowl & tray bit. It is going to be approximately 6" in diameter. The base of my OF 1400 is too small. I have several questions: 1) what is the diameter of the larger base Festool sells? 2) does anyone make a large base for Festool that is plug-and-play? 3) Is my warranty null and void if I make and install a shop made base?

The other trick I've seen is to run longer rods through the router and attach two guide stops to either side to create a wider base. Not sure if that helps you here.

Festool does infact make a "table widener" 493233. It makes the base enough larger that it feels more stable when cutting edge profiles, but it is not so much bigger as to do what you are looking for.
Probably the most versatile way to achieve your goal would be a router table insert plate. It will give you the size you need for the bowl project and still be useful for something else. Build yourself a router table too, then pop it out when a situation like this comes up.

How about something like the Festool MFS/Woodpeckers variable router jig?  Similar to the idea of a sled/rails for flattening a large slab. 
Use one of the bushing inserts so you don't accidentally hit your rails.
If the bowl is round, use a trammel and do the outside first then switch to rails to hog out the rest of the bowl.
If you don't want to buy the MFS/Woodpecker jig just make it out of 3/4" BB plywood.

I shop made base is a replacement for the OEM base. It can be an addon you make yourself or a third part accesory, like the one suggested in that thread.

You can look for longer rods. This would be the cheapest option.

Try 495246 or make something similar yourself.

Only downside: you loose router bit length but that can be solved by using an extender...
