Laser-Guided Scissors?!

That ought to put out one heck of a light show when you make that cut...

Well I think it's a great idea, imagine being able to cut a straight line without a straight edge. Or, to be able to cut materials that won't take a mark or would be spoiled by marking. Or, stuff like velvet that is difficult to cut with a knife.

It all depends on the implementation. If the laser is out of alignment it's game over. If the laser line is so bright or fat that you can't tell where the center of the line is it won't be much help. But if done right I'd buy it.

i don't know about "great idea", the trick would be to keep your hand/scissor straight!  when you move your hand,so is the laser!  so you are following every move you make!

Probably the "plunge scissor"
If they had a plunge scissor with a guide rail, it seems that the need for a laser guide would become moot.  ;)

Needs a $350 Incra-style precision alignment jig and a 4.5 HP motor to eliminate all that extra hand work.  Then, maybe....
