Late 2017 updates on mounting OF2200 in a table?

I’m curious why you are determined to use the 2200 in a router table. I thought about doing that and then just modified a Kreg table and assorted other bits around a PC motor.

Good question. I really don't want a ton of routers. I have an OF 1100, which I like a lot. Ive heard so much good about the 2200 that I'd like one for big jobs. My hope was to avoid buying aPC, just buy a kreg or similar stand, adapt whatever would be needed to accept the 2200, and have a net lower cost situation than buying a 2200 plus a router and a table.

The hope was a net $300-ish savings over a router table without a dedicated lift. Possibly more of the plunge could be used in lieu of a $300+ router lift.

Buying a CMS-GE negates any savings of course.

The one option still in play is to just get the insert, then mount in my own table and laminated table top. Like Richard Leon.

I do have this router table and did try mounting the OF 2200.  It does easily mount however the plunge spring in the OF 2200 is WAY too stiff to accurately adjust the router when it's upside down.  I couldn't even get the bit close to where I wanted it so I put my Bosch router back in the table.  The only way you are going to be able to use the OF 2200 in a table is if it has a lift that can move the OF 2200.  The only table I know that can do this is the Festool CMS.

I dont have mine in a CMS table though when I lived in Europe I did but not here. Well you ask. When its a very powerful and well balanced router. For the times when I have to hog out a lot of material and or using big bits, the 2200 shines. for smaller bits 1/4 8mm etc the 1010 is my go to. But I do have a lot of 1/2 bits

You may ultimately prefer that CMS arrangement , but it won't be less expensive than an of2200 + another 3hp motor, + a dedicated lift and DIY table.

Sometimes you just gotta pay the piper.  Cry once and get to making dust.

Been searching without much luck.  Christmas is coming and all that... want a real router table, to upgrade from my Bosch 1181.  If I get something, I'd like for it to be able to accommodate the OF 2200 for doing panel raising.

I do not wish to spend the nearly $2000 for the CMS (not to mention it's not really allowed in the USA). Have an MTF/3 and have found that other tables set up in wood working stores are consistently more stable.  Don't want to risk the money for a super expensive festool table.  Would consider the insert only, which could be purchased from Europe, but it's still a pricey proposition.

Its difficult searching for solutions, and even YouTube doesn't have much...

Thanks!

So, what have others done to properly and safely mount their 2200?

I would look to the Incra Table for an OF 2200 if you want a commercial table tough enough to handle a massive router.  Kreg cut a lot of manufacturering costs.  The newer versions of their tables are not what they used to be.
