Woodpeckers has announced their latest OTT - Rabbet Gauges.

Seriously? if you only do rabbets in 12 pre-decided depths/widths, and never use undersized plywood, these may be what you need for marking them out.

The text on the Woodpeckers site mentions sizes that are not standard, and then mentions the technique of sneaking up on cuts, but doesn't seem to think that you will still need to sneak up on non-standard sizes if you own these gauges.  "With a marking tool of this quality and precision, there'll be no need for guessing or trial and error cuts."  It also seems to be confusing marking precision with cutting precision.  While marking precision is useful, cutting precision is what makes the joint.  After all, I'm brilliant at marking out for hand-cut dovetails.

I am going to predict that this really will be a one timer.  Unlike their other OTT products that seem to roll back into town every couple of years.

My understanding is that Woodpecker is going to test the kitchen gadget market with a device designed to assist in slicing cheese, the rarebit gauge.

I hate to burst your bubble but these were produced in April 2011

These are probably the ones left over from that first run.
