Lightweight routers dedicated to roundovers

That sucks, is the collet letting the bit slip or is the barrel of the router moving in the grip portion?  If unsure measure your bit stick out from the collet and make some cuts till you see the error.  remeasure the stick out if its still the same then the clamp on the grip portion is slipping.  My dewalt routers have a small screw to adjust how much clamping force the height adjustment lever applies.  I just looked at a picture of the ryobi cordless and willing to bet thats your issue.  If its the collet I would give it a little extra when tightening it if it still slips return for a different one.  But chances are its the height adjustment clamp needs tightening
Thanks [member=73094]afish[/member] .  I had assumed the price dictated the overall material quality and this 'slop' is just due to that.  But I like your suggestion and I will check that out.  Thank you.

I noticed the Makita website no longer includes the RT0701C.

That would probably upset a few hobby CNC owners as I believe that is a popular router for use in those machines. There are certainly other 65mm routers that will work, and even the RoutER11 which is just a trim router with a 65mm barrel and ER11 collet. Plus 65mm spindles to choose from too.

Edit: I went to the Makita site and found it's still listed.

I contacted Makita by email and asked what the status of the RT0701C is.

I'll copy their response to this thread once it's received.
