Little Giant Ladder,(edit) with your help I did buy the RevXE 22

Steve,

I've even supported supported 400lbs. (approx.) glulams on this ladder which is heavier than the typical user even with bundles of roofing shingles on them.  I got to know the company owners and family when they were a small outfit around the time I bought this ladder and they're the ones who told me that even though it's rated Type IA, it handles more and the hinges were tested to withstand 1200 lb loads.  In all of the use I've personally put it through, I don't doubt it and I'm very happy with it.  I originally had to ask the owner to please bring this model to a builders show just so I could buy it.  I'd be curious to see the changes they've made in the hinge design over the years and whether there really is any actual difference in use.

Thinking about it, the only accessory that's a little bit of a pain is the standoff that needs to be put together, adjusted and clamped.  My Werner just clicks on my Werner ladder.

Thanks for the info.

Hi everyone,
here's my .02...  Watched the vids, seems like they were trying to Dis (disrespect) LG on purpose.  Just my impression.  They were using the painters model.  I have seen those over the years, in paint supply stores of all places! [big grin]  They are much lighter and an older design than the 1A versions.  I currently have two of the 1A versions (one from Home Depot, the other directly from LG).  I got the HD version on closeout sale years ago, it says made in USA...  Loved it so much, I ordered the second one when I could afford it and had the need.  They are heavy!  But versatile!  I do a ton of remodel and fixer-up stuff.  Windows, roof repair, all around painting, kitchen, baths and so on.  Can't say enough good things about my experiences with the product!  Never had the flex problems demonstrated on the vids, again, mine are the 1A in the model 22.  Super stable and very comfortable to stand on compared to many other ladders I have or use.  Over time, I have purchased all of the accessories.  They just compliment the ladders so well!  The lag stabilizer has helped a bunch on exterior projects where you may have a slope to contend with.  Well worth the money!  I demoed the Revolution at a home show last year.  Same everything as 1A, just much lighter ( and more expensive).  I wish I had two of those, but the classics work so darn well, I can't justify the expense!  The small compromise I did allow myself was, I purchased the new Select Step ladder ( Which I just recently saw at HD ).  It is only an A frame style ladder, but works much like the classic 1A.  It is much lighter, quicker to adjust and uses their new air deck tray system!  That alone is awesome!  Again, super stable and tough ladder that is comfortable to stand on for long periods of time!  I guess I'm trying to give a big thumbs up to Little Giant Classic 1A ladders ( as well as, the Select Step ) if that helps ;D
P.S., I was using one of my Classic 1A ladders to trim some large cottonwood branches last year.  I managed to land one about 12 feet long and 8 inches in diameter on one of the ladder rungs...  Ladder didn't throw me off like it really should have (the branch came down with a lot of force and at an angle to the ladder), and the rung welds weren't phased!( Read, very stable ladder! )  Now, it did bend the rung (step) about an inch and a half down, but that was a seriously big and heavy branch!  I was really fortunate, the part it damaged was the removable leg section!  Being a little type A ( who here isn't fellow Festoolians! ;D ) I called LG, ordered a new one for $90 (I think), and replaced it two days later!  Well, good luck!  Scott  ...Oh yeah, as soon as I can justify the purchase, I'm getting the new Sumo Stance extension ladder from LG!  I haven't tried it in person, but it's like Festool to me, I know it will do everything exactly like I expect it to perfectly!

Coming in late here...

I bought the 22 for use in building the house (and barn). It was invaluable for that, whether it be getting up the the 22 foot peak of the barn or using
the offset abilities to get me close to a wall with a stable platform.

That being said, it's so darn heavy that now that I'm done with the house I avoid using it. I use a 16' light aluminum. I suppose sooner or later I'll need to use
it on our stairs and then it will be great again.

But most of the time, I think of the weight then pass it by.

I have thought about going to the lighter ones.

I want to thank everyone for their responses.

I pulled the trigger on Type 1A RevolutionXE Model 22. The weight is less than the Classic 22 and a bit heaver than the Classic 17.  In a 8 foot ceiling Condo redo I would use it scaffold for ceiling work mostly. I also work in condos that have two story living rooms and I have to get to them by elevator. So this ladder will fit a need I have.

I ordered it Monday about 2pm CDT by phone. I was told it would ship that day and I should have it by Friday.
I did not see a confirm or tracking email by Tuesday noon. I called and was told it would ship on Tuesday but should see it by Friday.
As of Wed noon I had still not seen any email confirm or tracking email. I called and talked to the CS person. I was told it would ship today Wed. But I would not see it until mid next week. I calmly talked to the Female CS agent and stated what I had been told each day that it would ship that day. I stated that I wanted her to take no offense but I had now heard it would ship for three days in a row. How can I believe that it will really ship today? I continued on that they where the ones that set my expectation that it would be here by Friday, (so I could take it north to a cabin project). I said this is my first LG ladder and that I most likely would buy more as I'm a remodeling Contractor. I continued and said to her that this purchase is my first impression dealing with LG, I can't control how this experience ends up, only LG can. At that point I shut up and the line was silent for a bit...  she then stated that she understood my situation and thanked me for calmly explaining the situation and if I could hold a moment she wanted to talk to a manager and would call me back if I didn't want to wait. I told her I would like a call back and thanked her for her help.

Within 20 minutes I got call that it was being sent 2 day fedEx and an email FedEx tracking number showing two day shipping so I would have it no latter than 4:30pm CDT on Friday. WooHooo!

At this point I have to say LG might have dropped the ball at the start...but once they knew of the issue they stepped up and made it right.

I'll let you know more when I get it.

Cheers,
Steve

The ladder arrived on schedule.

Okay everyone says they are heavy..... the Type 1A Revolution XE - Model 22 weights 38 lbs.  Total shipment weight was 48 lbs. I also ordered, 3 Accessory Bundle - (Work Platform, Leg Leveler & Wing Span) and the Little Giant Cargo Hold.

Not to say it is heavy  [scared] ..... but I have never had FedEx back into the drive to unload something. [eek]. Being that it was a bit rainy yesterday 4.8" yesterday and lots of lighting... I was home working in the office, and I went out to help the guy.

The shipment came in Three boxes.  one of the ladder, one for the Little Giant Cargo Hold, and one for the 3 accessory bundle.  I took the the 3 acc. and Little Giant Cargo Hold  boxes from him at the truck and told him to hang on if he wanted and I come right back to help with the other box.....  I knew it was heavy when he said "that would be great!" [jawdrop].  Really it was not that bad but you sure do know you are picking something up.

Would it be of interest to others here to post pictures of boxes and provide first impressions of the product?

With yesterdays lightning that took out power I decided not to try setting up the metal ladder outside like the guy's video with Tinkerbell on a cable.

Let me know if images would be helpful.

Cheers,
Steve
