Looking for ground anchor?

Hi. A friend of mine picked up a cast iron pitcher pump.

I said I'd build him a stand for it. This apparatus will be non functioning and I'm looking for some type of anchor, stake or ground screw so I can anchor this stand solidly to the ground. My problem is that I can find lots of ground screws, but they all have eyes at the top of them. What I need is some type of flat plate at the top that I can bolt a stand onto.

I have considered a ground spike, but I'm looking for alternatives.

Anyone have any ideas for this anchor/ground screw? A perfect solution will be something that I can obtain in Canada.

Try a camping shop where you should expect to find securing screws for large tents. They look like huge corkscrews and just screw into the ground. We used to use something similar to anchor our 80 foot high antenna towers - those were made in the US.

You could always concrete the thing in place.

The problem is they have an eye hook at the top of them and the difficulty attaching a post of some type solidly to that eye.

I've seen a coarse screw with a plate on top ... big galvanised arrangement ... let me have a hunt about and see if I can find it. I know exactly what you're after (I think).

Yes, aside from the $33 price, that would do if I can find something similar in Canada. Right now, I'm leaning towards the $8.00 home depot spike in the ground.

Well, I found one locally, very similar to the one in your link. It will cost me $50, but it will be delivered to me on the weekend, so I guess I can't complain too much.
