Lr 32 system

My first festool or should say festo product i bought was about 3 years ago and it was a old festo Lr32mm system and long holy rail I paid 100 bucks for everything. I had to get a new router base for it when i got a OF1400 as the old one doesnt attach to the of 1400. Finally had some time so i watched some of the videos about using it to try to avoid problems. No matter what i tried with 16mm up and out with the spacers and marking tops of gables as they werent in 32mm increments. I could not get the holes to line up when flipping the rail to do the back role of holes. After remaking the gables and trying to figure out how i went wrong after spending time researching how to use it I finally found the culprit. I hadnt ever put the 2 rail spacers side by side. The original owner for some reason had ground down the one spacer. I felt better that it wasnt me but wished i would have noticed a long time ago. So i need to order new ones and in the festool catalog it says it has 2 pieces but anywhere i look online it doesnt say if they come in a set of 2 or as singles. The part appears to be Festool 496938 LR 32 Guide Rail Connector. Looking for someone who can tell me if it comes with 2 pieces for the 31 dollars or if i have to order 2 sets. Hope this makes sense thanks.

You can use the other end of the spacer and the holes will line up providing the cabinet side is a multiple of 32 mm. If the cabinet side is not a multiple of 32 the holes won't the holes won't line up no matter what spacing you use, that is my experience.

Yeah was able to make it work for this job but I have several coming up and would be nice to have the same size spacers and not worry about mixing them up.

Went to Bobs site and by the verbiage Im guessing they are sold as individuals not in sets of 2.
Id get the 2 their cheap enough. for what you paid for the set your still money ahead

You did bring up an important point.

The Guide Rail Connectors (cat # 482 107) are sold as single units, because with the original guide rails only one was needed.

With the current guide rails you need to buy 482 107 as a group of two.

Should you be connecting Holy Rails for use with LR32, then you also need the LR32 Guide Rail Connector (cat # 496 938) to ensure the 32mm spacing between holes is maintained at the connection. After the 482 107 connectors are tightened with the 32mm spacing, then the 496 938 is removed and is used to serve as an end stop for typical LR32 operation.

Under System 32 all cabinet sides were multiples of 32mm. While that was peachy for post WWII Europe, standard counter height in the USA is not a multiple of 32mm.  In the USA when we started using shelf pin holes on 32mm centers, we only referenced one end of the cabinet sides, usually the bottom. The original post war line boring machines used in the USA could reach both sets of holes on bottom cabinet sides without a need to turn them around. Of course we did need to mark the top end. In Europe the idea was sides could be assembled either way and the holes would still align.

I didnt mention that they can be used to set the 32mm distance between 2 connecting rails. All ya need to do is center the = sign on the stops and tighten the guide rail connectors and its set.
