If your'e a timber framer, this stuff is the best. In the past they have obviously had a close relationship with Festool and I'm pretty sure Mafell made motors for festool and possibly routers. Interesting to hear if anyone over here in metricland has info on this.
A quick look at the Two-Man Circular Saw FSG 240 K will drop the jaw.
the page is now in English too

I like Maffel I have been interested in the  Mafel saw with the flexible guide rail. Its cool because maffel uses Systainers also they have red clips. The flexible guide rail sits inside the box curled up with the saw. Unlike festool you have to carry the guide and box seperate. Also I like their short spring loaded guide rail saw which is handy for cutting floor boards with one hand as its attached to the saw. Also unlike festool the maffel saw can be used with out the quide rails. They do loads of types of ciruclar saws and a Chain saw which fits on the guide rail very similair to PROTOOL but larger.

Its also mafels fault why festool had to redesign the Domino. The metal spring loaded stops are on mafels dowel cutters and festool didnt have the pattern for it so had to replace the domino stops with plastic ones.

Annoyed me because I couldnt get hold of the old model domino so I got the new model.

If you was the buy the  Maffel birds mouth cutter and the chain saw or the Protool chain saw that would be a perfect set up for roofing.  You would do a roof in no time   clamp 20 rafters together  then run the chain saw to cut both ends  then run the birds mouth cutter along you will cut 20 raffters in seconds

I am saving up for that setup!

like you said though with festool being sister of maffel.  Unfortunatly  Festool stuff dont fit on the maffel quides but maffel do fit on the festool. Like the festool TS55  maffel has called theirs  MT55  and they are basically the same.   I hate all this though when new tools come out I wish I was rich and buy all the tools. I would buy all   FEIN  FESTOOL PROTOOL MAFFEL MILWUAKEE power tools

I'm saving for a chain mortiser, I've used the Makita , but I want the Mafell.
For those of you in imperial land, Timberwolf has some concise demo videos-
http://www.timberwolftools.com/video/index.html

Looked at them videos  thats where I thought I would rather have the Protool SSP200  instead of the maffel ZSX Ec / 400 HM because when he was holding it is looked MASSIVE on him unless he is small bloke lol. I know it cuts 100 mm more than protool but  a 200 mm cut is big enough.
