So I just ordered a domino xl and a couple other festools and will be building a work bench. Almost all of my projects are big so it will
be 4'x8'. I see the use for holes in the bench to hold the dogs in place, clamps ect. Has anyone made domino tenon holes and used dominos with a small block attached to perform the same thing? I am really determined to do it this way because I see a lot of
possibilities!

Thanks in advance! Take it easy on me I am "the new guy". [wink]

Trial & error seems to be a lost art in woodworking.
If you believe it will work for you, do it.
Do not be afraid to try something different than the rest of the crowd.

Dominoes only fit in their mortice one way.
If you do odd shaped things than a dog can go in any direction in a round hole.

That is the advantage of cutting your own mortices with the Domino. The mortices came be cut at anytime, anywhere & at any angle.

If we are talking about the base and legs I agree with the domino.

If it is using, the domino for the doge holes, then that is common to see square dig holes, Those work well for square stuff. However many benches have round holes those days. You can clamp round/oblong thinks with round dogs.

I was thinking about using my Domino 500 to cut a couple rows of 10mm mortises into my bench top for dogs as well.  New dogs and new shapes could be as simple as using a domino as a dog, or making a round or any other shape dog by making the shape you need and then mortising it and gluing a tenon in it.  You could make a fence this way too.  Lots of options.
